I’ve bought courses. Read dozens of self-help books. Hired coaches who gave me frameworks I knew how to build myself.

None of it worked like brotherhood.

A strategy lets you stay comfortable. It’s something you can nod along to alone in your own head, adjust on your own terms, quietly abandon when it gets hard.

A man who knows what you said you’d do and actually asks if you did it doesn’t let you get away with it.

I didn’t change because I found the right framework. I changed because men I respected were watching, and I didn’t want to let them down.

That’s why Sovereign Man is built around other men, not just more content.

Success can change a lot of things in your life.

But it doesn’t automatically resolve everything you’re carrying internally.

When I asked Conor to describe where he was before we started working together, he talked about having success while still carrying shame, guilt, intensity, and regret from his past.

What stood out to me most was how he described what had changed.

His intensity was down.

His clarity was up.

He had a greater appreciation for his life, the people around him, and himself.

And ultimately, he described the journey as life-changing.

I’m grateful to Conor for being willing to share his experience so openly.

Just got back from 3 days at xchange , Transformation by Design, led by Jon Berghoff .

On day one we were asked: Why am I here?

I sat with that question at a crossroads, some doubt, some uncertainty, and let myself notice what’s ready to be born and what’s ready to be let go.

Here’s what came up:
I’m open to receive and allow what is here.

Letting go of what needs to be let go and inviting real connection with people.

Then Jon asked us to answer as our 5-year-old self and as our 111-year-old self.

My 5-year-old said: more fun, more dancing, more creativity.

My 111-year-old said: let go and enjoy this life. Love myself. Love family. Love nature.

The day after the event, Jon and I recorded a podcast episode right there on-site, sitting next to where the event was actually happening. No studio, no polish, just the real connection. The episode will be released soon.

Grateful for Jon Berghoff, for every person in that room who connected with me, and for whatever gets built next because of this experience.

Shoutout to Sachin Patel for an epic breathwork experience and Yanik Silver for morning cacao ceremonies.

I used to think discipline was the whole answer. Wake up early, stick to a morning routine, meditate, take a cold shower, work out, never miss a day. From the outside, it looked like I had it together.

But discipline alone just gave me a better way to avoid people. I could stay busy enough that nobody ever got close enough to see what was actually going on.

Turns out you can build a perfect routine and still be completely alone in it.

The real work started when I let other men into the parts I’d been managing on my own.

If your discipline is airtight but you can’t remember the last time a man really knew what you were carrying, that’s not strength. That’s a hiding place.

I used to think the next training, the next book, the next closed opportunity would finally make the feeling go away. It never did.

Turns out you can’t out-earn or out-perform a nervous system that’s still running from something. No amount of success fixes a body that doesn’t know how to feel safe.

I had to actually do the work, regulate, not just achieve. Entrepreneurs or high-achievers rarely share that part.

If you’re chasing more because slowing down feels dangerous, that’s not ambition. That’s survival mode.

Most of us were raised in survival mode.

Trained to perform. Trained to provide. Never let anyone see the struggle.

It kept me alive. It didn’t let me live.

Survival mode got you here. It won’t take you where you actually want to go.

That’s why I built Sovereign Man. Real brotherhood. Real accountability. A path back to wholeness, without giving up your ambition.

Two years ago I moved to Costa Rica with no idea what it would ask of me.

It asked for the extremes. The all-or-nothing, the grinding, the versions of me that had outlived their usefulness. There have been deaths here, and rebirths right behind them.

What it gave back: the Sovereign Man program. Two years of the podcast. Friendships that showed up out of nowhere. Old friends I found my way back to. A pickleball habit I can’t explain. And the slow lesson in how to actually serve people instead of just performing at it.

Mostly it taught me to drill down to what matters most, and let the rest go.

Pura vida. Two years in. 🇨🇷
