About the Instuctor

Jennifer is a Second City alumni that worked as an actor for over 10 years in Toronto, Canada. She has taught Improvisation to both children and adults, as well as led Improv and Comedy Troops that performed at various venues in the city.
After leaving Toronto more than a decade ago, Jen travelled the world. Along the way she taught English as a Second Language in some of the countries she was blessed to visit, such as Thailand, Vietnam, Peru, and Columbia.
Jen finally decided to put down some roots and is now happily living in Playa Langosta. She is excited to start teaching again and sharing her love for Improv Comedy.

What is Improv?
Well, Improvisation, or Improv, is a type of live theatre, where the plot, characters and dialogue of a game/scene/story is performed unplanned and unscripted. It is simply made up in the moment. First and foremost Improv is FUN! The skills gained through training however, are beneficial in so many areas of life.
Improv builds confidence. It gives the self-assuredness to be who we truly are, even when being silly, and creates a solid foundation for confident public speaking abilities.
It is an excellent tool to enhance our listening skills. In Improv, we must really listen to our partners in a scene. This, of course, also aids in our social skills and making genuine connections with others, all while promoting the acceptance of other ideas.
Improvisation teaches us to be in the moment. To be present to what is happening in the now, all around us.
As well, Improv gives us the ability to think fast and problem solve. Scenes can change quickly, we must adapt and contribute to the directions those changes take us.
Naturally, Improv also increases creativity, something we should all strive to enhance. Children are instinctively creative, unfortunately this can diminish as we grow up. Nurturing creativity can help us keep the child inside thriving.
Laughter is one of the best things that comes with learning Improv. A joy of life, friends, and the moment we are experiencing now all profit from shared laughter.
