El día de hoy, en la clase de Cívica, nuestros estudiantes de Undécimo Año disfrutaron la visita del señor Leonardo Merino, investigador del Programa Estado de la Nación, quien compartió con ellos una serie de datos y elementos de análisis para comprender la arquitectura, particularidades y desafíos recientes del Estado costarricense.
Estamos seguros de que esta charla fue de gran aprendizaje para nuestros jóvenes, no solo en términos académicos, sino en su proceso de formación como ciudadanos informados y responsables de su entorno.
Agradecemos a Leonardo su disposición y enseñanzas; y al Estado de la Nación su anuencia a participar en conversatorios como este.

Today, in Civics class, our eleventh-grade students enjoyed a visit from Mr. Leonardo Merino, a researcher with the State of the Nation Program. He shared with them a series of facts and analytical tools to help them understand the architecture, characteristics, and recent challenges of the Costa Rican state.
We are certain that this talk was a great learning experience for our students, not only academically, but also in their development as informed and responsible citizens.
We thank Leonardo for his willingness to share his knowledge, and the State of the Nation Program for its willingness to participate in discussions like this one.

♟️La semana anterior nuestro equipo representativo de ajedrez categoría D, viajó hasta Talamanca para participar en la final nacional del Programa de Juegos Deportivos Estudiantiles.
Nos sentimos orgullosos de su participación y felicitamos el desempeño de estos muchachos, su esfuerzo, sacrificio y amor por el ajedrez.

🎭 El teatro llegó a Lakeside.

El día de ayer nuestros estudiantes desde kinder hasta noveno año pudieron apreciar una obra de teatro.
Nuestra cancha techada se transformó en el escenario donde los actores del Teatro Palíndromos representaron "Los cuentos de mi Tía Panchita", "El fantasma de Canterville" y "Los árboles mueren de pie".
Nuestros estudiantes disfrutaron de esta actividad que, claramente, enriquece su proceso de formación integral.

🎭 Theater came to Lakeside!

Yesterday, our students from kindergarten through ninth grade enjoyed a theatrical performance.
Our covered court was transformed into a stage where the actors from Teatro Palíndromos performed "Los cuentos de mi Tía Panchita", "El fantasma de Canterville" and "Los árboles mueren de pie"
Our students thoroughly enjoyed this activity, which clearly enriches their overall development.

*Celebración del Día del Agricultor en Kínder 🍓🍇🥕*
Nuestros estudiantes de Kínder celebraron el Día del Agricultor vistiéndose de frutas y llenando el día de color, alegría y aprendizaje.
En esta fecha tan especial, queremos reconocer y honrar la importante labor de los agricultores, quienes con esfuerzo, dedicación y amor por la tierra hacen posible que los alimentos lleguen a nuestras mesas.
Además, conversamos sobre la importancia de mantener hábitos saludables y consumir frutas como parte de una alimentación balanceada. Los estudiantes también trajeron frutas para compartir, disfrutando de una experiencia muy bonita y significativa.
Agradecemos mucho a las familias por motivar y ser parte de esta actividad tan especial.

*Farmer’s Day Celebration in Kindergarten 🍓🍇🥕*
Our Kindergarten students celebrated Farmer’s Day by dressing up as fruits and filling the day with color, joy, and learning.
On this special day, we wanted to recognize and honor the important work of farmers, who through their effort, dedication, and love for the land make it possible for food to reach our tables.
In addition, we talked about the importance of maintaining healthy habits and eating fruits as part of a balanced diet. The students also brought fruits to share, enjoying a very meaningful and special experience together.
We are very grateful to the families for encouraging and being part of this beautiful activity.
Thank you to all farmers for their hard work and commitment!

Durante las últimas clases de música, los niños y niñas de kínder estuvieron trabajando el tema de los cantos y rondas infantiles. Como parte de esta experiencia, escuchamos el cuento musical de El Patito Feo y aprendimos la canción de Los Cinco Patitos, disfrutando mucho de la música, el movimiento y la participación en clase.
Para cerrar esta hermosa actividad, realizamos una visita al lago de la escuela, donde los estudiantes pudieron observar y alimentar a los patos. Además, conversamos sobre la importancia de cuidar a los animales, tratarlos con respeto y proteger los espacios donde viven.
Fue una experiencia muy significativa y llena de alegría para todos.
Gracias por apoyar siempre estas actividades que enriquecen el aprendizaje de nuestros pequeños.

During the last music classes, the kindergarten boys and girls worked on the theme of children’s songs and circle games. As part of this experience, we listened to the musical story of The Ugly Duckling and learned the song Five Little Ducks, greatly enjoying the music, movement, and participation in class.
To conclude this beautiful activity, we visited the school lake, where the students were able to observe and feed the ducks. In addition, we talked about the importance of caring for animals, treating them with respect, and protecting the spaces where they live.
It was a very meaningful and joyful experience for everyone.
Thank you for always supporting these activities that enrich the learning of our little ones.

🥇🏆♟️Ayer en la Escuela de Lepanto, se realizó la final interregional en las categorías B y D del torneo de ajedrez del Programa de Juegos Deportivos Estudiantiles.
Con gran orgullo, les comunicamos que nuestros equipos resultaron campeones en ambas categorías, por lo que han clasificado a la final nacional que se realizará en próximas semanas.
Queremos felicitar el trabajo y el esfuerzo de estos estudiantes, agradecer el acompañamiento y apoyo de sus familias; además, dar nuestro reconocimiento al trabajo del profesor Álex López, quien los ha estado acompañando en el proceso.

🥇🏆♟️Yesterday at the Lepanto School, the interregional finals for categories B and D of the Student Sports Games Program chess tournament were held.
We are very proud to announce that our teams were crowned champions in both categories, thus qualifying for the national finals to be held in the coming weeks.
We want to congratulate these students on their hard work and effort, thank their families for their support, and acknowledge the work of Professor Alex López, who has guided them throughout the process.

🎭Nuestros estudiantes de décimo y undécimo año, acompañados por sus profesores de inglés, pudieron apreciar el montaje de la obra de teatro "Mucho ruido y pocas nueces" de W. Shakespeare.
Para nuestros jóvenes, poder participar de espectáculos como este, es una oportunidad excelente para acercarse a manifestaciones artísticas poco comunes en nuestra región y que favorecen un desarrollo integral.

🥳🧒👧El sábado anterior disfrutamos de una de las actividades más importantes en nuestro calendario institucional: nuestro Súper Sábado.
Un espacio pensado para compartir en comunidad, para encontrarnos en una dinámica diferente, llena de juegos y actividades para todos los integrantes de la familia Lakeside.
Estudiantes, familiares, egresados, docentes y vecinos pudieron participar, saludarse, jugar, conversar y, en general, disfrutar de un ambiente relajado y lúdico.
Agradecemos a todas las personas que colaboraron para poder realizar esta actividad y esperamos encontrarnos el próximo año en nuestro Súper Sábado.

🥳🧒👧Last Saturday we enjoyed one of the most important events on our school calendar: our Super Saturday.
This event was designed for community gatherings, a chance to connect in a fun and engaging way, filled with games and activities for everyone in the Lakeside family.
Students, families, alumni, teachers, and neighbors all participated, greeted each other, played games, chatted, and generally enjoyed a relaxed and playful atmosphere.
We thank everyone who helped make this event possible and look forward to seeing you all again next year for our Super Saturday.

Como parte de nuestra unidad “ Community Helpers ”, nuestros estudiantes de Kínder y Prepa realizaron una gira educativa al Aeropuerto Internacional Daniel Oduber Quirós en Liberia, donde visitaron al cuerpo de bomberos.

Durante esta experiencia, los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer diferentes áreas del aeropuerto. Uno de los momentos más emocionantes fue poder ingresar a un avión, conocer su interior y la cabina del piloto, así como observarlo posteriormente desde afuera e incluso verlo despegar.

Además, compartieron un espacio muy enriquecedor con miembros del cuerpo de bomberos, quienes les explicaron su importante labor, las funciones que realizan y la relevancia de su trabajo. Los estudiantes pudieron conocer las partes del traje de bomberos y comprender por qué es fundamental utilizarlo. También conocieron la manguera que utilizan en su trabajo y aprendieron cómo la emplean en diferentes situaciones.

Fue especialmente emocionante para ellos poder subir al camión de bomberos, una experiencia que disfrutaron muchísimo.

Asimismo, disfrutaron del área de juegos del aeropuerto y participaron en una actividad muy especial con los perros de la unidad, donde presenciaron una demostración muy interesante.

Fue un día lleno de aprendizaje, emoción y diversión, en el que los estudiantes pudieron acercarse de manera vivencial al trabajo de distintos miembros de la comunidad.

Agradecemos especialmente a la señora Yarelliz Porras por su amable atención y guía, así como a todo el personal del aeropuerto, cuerpo de bomberos y policía de vigilancia aérea, quienes hicieron posible esta hermosa experiencia.

As part of our “ Community Helpers ” unit, our Kindergarten and Prep students went on an educational field trip to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia, where they visited the fire department.

During this experience, the students had the opportunity to explore different areas of the airport. One of the most exciting moments was being able to go inside an airplane, see its interior and the pilot’s cabin, as well as observe it later from the outside and even watch it take off.

In addition, they shared a very enriching time with members of the fire department, who explained their important work, the functions they perform, and the relevance of their job. The students were able to learn about the different parts of a firefighter’s suit and understand why it is essential to use it. They also got to know the hose they use in their work and learned how it is used in different situations.

It was especially exciting for them to be able to climb onto the fire truck, an experience they truly enjoyed.

They also enjoyed the airport playground area and participated in a very special activity with the unit dogs, where they witnessed a very interesting demonstration.

It was a day full of learning, excitement, and fun, in which the students were able to experience firsthand the work of different members of the community.

We would especially like to thank Mrs. Yarelliz Porras for her kind attention and guidance, as well as all the airport staff, firefighters, and air surveillance police officers who made this wonderful experience possible.
