Feliz Solsticio!

Menos horas de luz: hoy es el "Solsiticio de diciembre o invierno".

Este día el Sol estará alcanzando su máxima declinación Sur, esto es 23,5° hacia el sur del este. En esta fecha los rayos solares caen perpendiculares sobre el paralelo Trópico de Capricornio (actualmente Trópico de Sagitario).

En el hemisferio norte esta fecha es importante porque es el día en que la noche es más larga y el día es más corto, por ejemplo en el Círculo Polar Artico el Sol no sale, es decir hay oscuridad las 24 horas (noche polar), en Otawa (Canadá) el día dura 8 horas con 43 minutos y la noche 15 horas con 17 minutos. En los trópicos la diferencia es menor, así en Costa Rica la duración del día es de 11 horas y 33 minutos, la de la noche de 12 horas con 27 minutos.
