Open Day at Ganiah

What a joyful and inspiring day we had!

A huge thank you to our amazing children who brought their talents, creativity, and energy into every corner of the event –
from the origami workshop, handmade jewelry stands, and dance performances,
to a touching musical show they worked on during music class, and stunning watercolor paintings they proudly displayed.
Your work and enthusiasm lit up the whole day!

Thank you to our dedicated teachers who bring their love, time, and talents into everything they do – you are the heart of Gan-Ya.

A big thank you as well to our wonderful parents – with each gathering, the sense of community grows stronger.
And of course, thank you for the delicious homemade pastries that added warmth and sweetness to the event 🥐❤️

Thank you for the music, the smiles, and the feeling that together – we’re building something special.

It’s truly a joy to be part of a community that continues to grow, evolve, and discover its magic in motion 🌟

Today we visited Cindy and Rob's wonderful farm. We met and learned about the diverse animals on the farm, and in Rob's workshop, he taught us about glassmaking and showed us sophisticated inventions he had invented for farm animals and various crops. It was very fascinating! Afterwards we went for a dip at River Beach.

In a Waldorf classroom, watercolor painting is a meditative and meaningful experience. The gentle flow of wet-on-wet color invites children to slow down, observe, and feel. They begin to understand the mood and movement of color long before they seek to create form or replicate images.

This practice supports emotional balance, sensory integration, and a deep connection to beauty. It is not about the final product but about the inner experience. It allows the child’s imagination and feeling life to unfold naturally, with care and reverence.

It was a chance for the children to challenge themselves, fall down, get back up, and discover their strength. Waldorf education values the will, the body, and the spirit. Our school in Platanillo, Costa Rica is welcoming someone who loves being with children, enjoys nature, and is ready to be part of a creative, supportive community.

We’re looking for someone dependable, warm, and ideally with experience working with kids ages 6 and up. If you have skills to share—like art, movement, crafts, or music—even better!

🌿 5 hours a day, Monday to Friday
🌿 Minimum 3-month commitment
🌿 Room in a shared cabin next to the school
🌿 Two healthy meals per day (weekdays)

There’s something magical about children tending to the earth together. In our Ganiah Waldorf garden, mixed-age groups come alive with curiosity, care, and cooperation.

Whether planting seeds or harvesting greens, the children learn through their hands, hearts, and senses. The older ones often guide the younger ones with patience and pride, showing us the beauty of community in action.

Gardening teaches rhythm, responsibility, and reverence for life, all while sparking joy. It’s one of the many ways we bring learning to life at our school in Platanillo.
