¿Y si el problema no es la falta de tiempo, sino la falta de un espacio dedicado?

Muchas veces decimos “no tengo tiempo para hacer ejercicio, escribir, estudiar o crear”, pero en el fondo no se trata del reloj: se trata de no habernos dado permiso para detenernos y ocupar ese lugar.

La transformación empieza con una afirmación paradójica:

“Nunca encuentro tiempo para esto, y sin embargo sé que puedo encontrar un espacio solo para mí.”

No esperes a que aparezca el momento perfecto. Créalo. Habítalo. Dedícatelo. Lo más poderoso es crear un espacio para conectar con el presente, en lugar de huir detrás de las agujas del reloj. ¿Te gustaría saber cómo?

Muy feliz de haber compartido un rato con mi colega Anna Berti Suman en el pasado Citizen Science Day. Conversamos acerca del poder de la colaboración cívica y su rol en las acciones para proteger el medio ambiente. En particular la importancia internacional del en la justicia en asuntos ambientales y los derechos de las personas defensoras del medio ambiente visto como un ecosistema con el ser humano.

Exciting news! Our latest research on urban activism and smart citizenship in San José, Costa Rica has just been published in the Smart Cities proceedings by .
▪️This study examines how civic movements use technology—specifically social media—to mobilize, engage citizens, and reclaim public spaces. By mapping key actors and initiatives from 2012 to 2022, we identified how digital platforms have strengthened participatory urban governance and bottom-up decision-making.
▪️Proud to share these findings and contribute to the conversation on civic tech and urban transformation!

I will be sharing some insights from one of my recent studies on urban collectives and their use of networks in Costa Rica at the Ibero American Congress of Smart Cities. Many thanks to Tecnológico de Costa Rica for providing this space for reflection on governance and citizenship in the context of smart cities—a topic still controversial and often overshadowing the strength of human groups. Los hallazgos del estudio "The influence of the urban model on civic involvement and public time" destacan diferencias significativas entre las zonas urbanas dispersas y de baja densidad comparadas con las más compactas, de uso mixto, y media densidad:
• El tiempo de viaje diario es más corto.
• Hay mayor uso de espacios públicos.
• Se declara una mayor participación cívica.
• En movilidad, se utiliza menos el vehículo privado y se camina más.
Quiero invitar a los líderes locales a conocer este estudio y a explorar soluciones basadas en datos que impulsen un mayor índice de participación cívica urbana. Es crucial fomentar una tipología urbana justa que potencie el tiempo público de las personas.
