The American International School of Costa Rica (AIS) is a private, non-profit association.

AIS is accredited in the United States by Cognia (formerly AdvancED/SACS) and also by the Costa Rica Ministry of Education. This allow students to earn both U.S.and Costa Rican high school diploma. AIS also offers a complete English as a Second Language program (ESL), Spanish as a Second Language program (SSL), and a Learning Support Program (LSP), that supports students with additional needs.

This week, our students from Kindergarten through 9th grade will participate in the MAP Growth assessments, an internationally recognized tool that measures academic progress and supports personalized learning within the American curriculum.
MAP testing helps teachers better understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth while supporting their path toward earning an American diploma. 🇺🇸🎓

2026 Annual International Luncheon 🗺️🍽️

Our AIS community came together for a beautiful celebration of culture, diversity, and connection. Through incredible traditions, and shared experiences, families and students showcased the richness of our international community.

Families also proudly participated in the Nationalities Parade and Country Presentations, bringing their cultures to life in a truly meaningful way.
