Fatherhood has been on my mind lately.
My father passed away on April 10th, seven years ago.
If you know me, you know how deep I've investigated my relationship with my father.. The many ways I emulate my father, whether I try to do so or not.
What I can say with certainty is that the more I've run away from my father's legacy, the more I realize how we are the same.
Now, I accept this inevitability. Curiosity about the man who gave me life has led to acceptance.
Curiosity is key to being a great man. A great father. Curiosity about how we approach our lives. Curiosity about how we empower ourselves and others.
With this retreat and all my coaching and men's work leadership, my goal is to help men realize the power they possess. That we as men are the writers of the stories of our lives.
We are not defined by our past. We are not defined by our potential futures.
We are defined by how we show up in each present moment. And we as individual men, unique in our values and goals and purpose, get to make that choice. That is our freedom.
How will you show up for yourself? Because that determines how you show up as a father and as a leader for your family.
