Coral reefs around the world have been hit by the longest mass global coral bleaching ever recorded.

Climate change has led to the ocean being significantly warmer. Unable to cope with this rise in temperature, the corals start to turn white and some will die.

Coral reefs support food and shelter for a staggering amount of marine life and they are also essential for the livelihoods and protection of many millions of people.

For coral reefs to survive, carbon emissions must be cut deeper to keep warming below 1.5C.
