So often, we ask our grief to into the needs of our daily life.

Today, I invite you to ask what your grief needs.

From you.
From your friends and family.
From your community.
From professional support.

David Kessler’s Six Needs of the Griever offers one framework for exploring that question. (David Kessler) 🙏

These aren’t stages or steps to move through.
Our needs can overlap, return, and change over time.

As you swipe through, notice what resonates.

Which need feels most present for you right now?

And just as importantly, which has been well cared for or supported?

I’d love to hear what comes up for you.
Share in the comments or send me a DM.
I personally read and respond to every message. 🤍

There are books that help us understand grief,
and books that help us feel understood within our grief.

To have our pain witnessed is one of the deepest needs of the grieving heart.

Thank you, Joanne Cacciatore (Dr Joanne Cacciatore), for finding words for what so often feels beyond language. This book is a true gift from the heart 🤍

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed one moment…
and then numb and shut down the next?

I remember how confusing, and even frightening that felt. Never knowing how I would feel or react.

It was especially disorienting as a psychotherapist, because I understood grief intellectually.

But at the time I didn’t understand what was happening in my body and nervous system.

And when I began to understand that,
and learned how to support my body as I processed my emotions, something important began to shift.

I’m hosting a free live workshop this Saturday May 9th at 11 AM ET, where I’ll share some of the body-based practices the have been most helpful for me and the people I work with who are navigating life after partner loss and early widowhood.

If this resonates, comment “LINK” and I’ll send you the registration link,

or send me a DM if you have any questions or would just like to connect.

With love, Eva 🤍

One of the most isolating parts of grief
is not feeling understood.

I remember how confusing everything felt…
how what I had learned about grief as a psychotherapist and social worker,
and how so much the support I found,
didn’t match what I was experiencing inside.

“Holding Grief With Love”
has been shaped by my own experience,
both personal and professional,
and by those I’ve had the privilege to work with.

Before I share it more widely,
I’m hoping to connect with a few people in the early years of widowhood to make sure it truly reflects
the full range of this experience and meets your unique needs.

If you would be open to sharing a bit about your personal experience, I would be honoured to connect 🤍

Grief was never meant to be carried alone.

And yet… so many of us find ourselves doing exactly that.

Carrying the love
the memories
the pain
and trying to make sense of it all.

Embers & Ink was created as a space to return to something we’ve lost,
being held in grief, in community, in nature.

“Embers” reflects the love and connection that continue to glow.
“Ink” offers a way to honour, process, and express, through writing and reflection.

A weekend to slow down,
to honour your loss and the love that continues,
and to be supported,
by nature, by others who understand,
and by experienced guides.

If this speaks to something in you…
we would be honoured for you to join us 🤍

With love,
Eva & Lisa

There are so many layers to loss…

The loss of your person.
The loss of the life you were building… and the future you imagined.
And the losses that come with the decisions you have to make just to survive.

I hadn’t realized how much this still affected me…
until a few months ago.

I saw a dog that looked like Beans.
My first response was joy.

I told the couple,
“we used to have a dog just like yours.”

Then I burst into tears as I walked away.

Why do I share this now?
Because so often, the things we feel ashamed of…
we carry in silence, in the shadows.

And in sharing…
in allowing some space for compassion and forgiveness…
we can begin to process and integrate.

If any part of this resonates,
and you feel called to share your own experience,
I would be honoured to hear from you.

Healing happens in connection.

Sending love to you today 🤍

No one really talks about this part of life after partner loss…

When something new begins to feel possible…
and instead of excitement,
you feel fear.
Guilt.
A panicked urge to pull away.

This is fresh for me,
still a bit raw and vulnerable.

But these questions have come up recently in conversations with other widows so I wanted to share.

How do we trust what we’re feeling?
Is it self-protection?
Self-sabotage?
Not the right person?
Or not being ready?

How can I love again…
while still being in love with someone
I can no longer hold?

A mentor once shared with me that new love as a widow is like loving a second child.
It doesn’t diminish the love of the first.
Love is infinite.

And still…
the fears linger.
The confusion.
The questions without answers.

Just a heart learning how to love with love and loss.

Does any of this resonate? Sending love to you 🤍

When the grief waves hit,
it can feel like you’re going to be swept away.

One moment you’re okay…
and the next,
you’re under.

Not knowing which way is up.
Feeling like you can’t catch your breath.

With body-based practices & awareness,
I began to recognize when the waves were coming…

the way a surfer learns to read the water.

And I learned how to anchor myself.

My breath.
My feet on the ground.
Noticing the space around me.

They seem so simple…
but in those moments,
they can offer just enough steadiness,
to find the ground beneath you.

These are some of the practices I’ve included
in my free Partner Loss Journal…

If you’d like a copy,
you can DM or comment: “JOURNAL” 🤍

And I’d love to hear…
what has helped you?
