From Rochester to public impact.

Meet Ana María Buriticá Alzate, Class of 2000, a Rochester alumna whose career has been dedicated to connecting local realities with global opportunities.

With more than 17 years of experience in international cooperation, urban management, knowledge management, human rights, and public policy, Ana María currently leads knowledge management initiatives at Bogotá’s Secretariat for Women — using research, data, and evidence to support decisions that can transform lives.

For Ana María, Rochester helped shape a deep sense of responsibility, autonomy, empathy, and purposeful leadership.

Her message to today’s students is simple and powerful: stay curious, act with purpose, keep learning, and never lose the joy that art and sports can bring to life.

A lo largo de los años, Justo Guerrero ha tenido la oportunidad de reencontrarse con exalumnos del Colegio Rochester en diferentes lugares del mundo. Cada encuentro confirma que, aunque los caminos tomen rumbos distintos, el vínculo con nuestra comunidad permanece.

🚀 Some dreams begin by looking at the sky. Others begin at Rochester School.
When Andrés Urrea, Class of 2025, walked these hallways, he was already building the path that would lead him to study Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and join its Honors Program.
His journey was shaped not only by academic excellence through seven Advanced Placement (AP) courses, but also by experiences in sports, music, and leadership that helped him grow as a well-rounded individual.
During his recent visit back to campus, Andrés reflected on how those opportunities, challenges, and experiences prepared him for the next stage of his journey.

Coming back to Rochester School means reconnecting with the people who helped shape who we are. 💙
This week, we were delighted to welcome María José Chávez Hernández, Class of 2024, back to campus.
During her visit, María José reunited with several of her former teachers, including Andrea Polanco, whose guidance and support were an important part of her journey at Rochester School.
Moments like these remind us that graduation is not the end of the story. The friendships, lessons, and connections built here remain for a lifetime.

🏅 We proudly celebrate Juan Pablo Cabrera Vásquez, Class of 1998, on receiving the José Acevedo y Gómez Civil Order of Merit, Gold Cross Grade, awarded by the Bogotá City Council in recognition of his outstanding entrepreneurial leadership and contribution to sports, health, and community development.
As Founder and CEO of Active Bodytech, Juan Pablo has built far more than a successful company. Through his vision, he has helped make wellness more accessible, created meaningful opportunities, and fostered spaces where individuals and families can grow, connect, and thrive.

From a classroom assignment to a published book.
Catalina Cortés, Rochester alumna from the Class of 2023, is one of the authors of Psicología de la Violencia Digital, contributing a chapter on the role of health psychology in understanding digital violence and its impact on mental and integral health.
Her message is powerful: prevention is not about prohibition. It is about knowledge, clear boundaries, trusted relationships, and the confidence to ask for help.
Catalina also recognizes autonomy, empathy, respect, and being present for others as some of the values she took from her years at Rochester.
We cannot control everything that happens online. But we can develop the inner control to recognize risks, make conscious decisions, and seek support and care for ourselves and others.
What began in a classroom is now contributing to a conversation that matters to us all.

Federico Kalenatic Acosta, Class of 2026, recently returned to Rochester School and reunited with some of the teachers who helped shape his journey, including a special moment with Javier Cucalón.
