🏆 El argentino Luis Caffarelli, catedrático de la University of Texas y miembro del Comité Externo de Asesoramiento Científico del , es el primer latinoamericano en recibir el Abel Prize, el mayor reconocimiento a toda una carrera en .
“La obra de Caffarelli, profunda y revolucionaria, ha resuelto una serie de problemas llamados de frontera libre”, asegura Antonio Córdoba, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, miembro del y colaborador de Caffareli. Un ejemplo de este tipo de problemas aparece al estudiar una mezcla de agua y hielo: ¿cómo es la superficie de separación entre las dos fases sólido-líquido?
Caffarelli (Argentina, 1948) realizó su doctorado en la Universidad de Buenos Aires
y tras ello se trasladó a EE. UU., donde ha sido investigador en diversas y prestigiosas instituciones.
