Venecon 2027 is officially underway!

Today in Houston, during IMAGE Event 2026, AAPG | AAPG Latin America & Caribbean , Society of Petroleum Engineers International and SEG officially launched the Venezuela Energy Conference (Venecon) 2027!

The three societies' chief executives, event directors, and program chairs met with Venezuelan Minister of Hydrocarbons, the PDVSA en Executive Vice President, and the U.S. Under Secretary of Energy and their teams. All three entities expressed their support for Venecon and recognized the role of professional societies in the development of Venezuela's oil and gas sector.

Venecon 2027 will bring the industry together to discuss Venezuela’s energy potential, exploration and production, geoscience, technology, and future opportunities.

At the world’s leading gathering for applied geoscience and energy, our LACR President-Elect, Ana Maria Goncalves, will moderate the panel Developing Venezuela’s Energy Potential: Strategy, Technology, and Innovation.

Bringing together perspectives from across the energy industry, the panel explores technologies, strategies and opportunities shaping Venezuela’s energy potential and its place in the regional and global energy landscape.

Part of the IMAGE Strategic Forum Empowering Venezuela: Energy, Investment & Opportunity, the panel follows presentations from the Venezuelan Minister of Hydrocarbons, Executive Vice President of PDVSA, and the United States Under Secretary of Energy.

The Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) team from Merida, Venezuela will represent the Latin America and Caribbean Region in the AAPG Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) global finals on August 17.

They will face off against universities from Hungary, Indonesia, Oman, Nigeria, and the United States for a chance to win AAPG's prestigious subsurface basin evaluation competition.
