💫✨ Today is China's most romantic traditional festival — Qixi.

You may have heard it called "Chinese Valentine's Day," but the story behind it is far more moving. 🥹

Legend tells of Niulang, a kind-hearted cowherd, who lived a simple life with his old ox. 🐂 One day, he met Zhinü — a celestial weaver and daughter of the Jade Emperor — at a lake where she had secretly come down to earth. 👘 They fell in love, married, and had two children. They lived happily together. 🏠💕

But their happiness was short-lived. Zhinü was taken back to the heavens. 😢 Niulang chased after her, carrying their two children in baskets. Just as he was about to catch up, the Queen Mother of the West drew her hairpin across the sky, creating the Milky Way 🌌 — a vast river separating the lovers forever.

Moved by their unwavering love, thousands of magpies flew up and formed a bridge 🌉 across the Milky Way, allowing them to reunite. The Jade Emperor was so touched that he allowed them to meet once a year — on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month.

That's the story of Qixi. To this day, people in China look up at the night sky — the two brightest stars on opposite sides of the Milky Way are Niulang and Zhinü. ⭐🌟

This story reminds us: true love endures distance and time. 💞
