From Kampala to Yiwu. From trader to Chairman.

I’m humbled to share that I’ve been named an Outstanding African Business Chairman by the Yiwu China-Africa Business Council (YIWU CAC) for 2025. 🇨🇳🇺🇬

I’ve watched this corridor grow. The numbers speak for themselves:

▫️ ¥111.2 billion – Yiwu’s trade with Africa in 2025 (up 22.3%)
▫️ 7,000 African traders – now permanent residents in Yiwu
▫️ 53 African nations – zero tariffs on 100% of goods
▫️ 9 overseas liaison offices – from Kenya to Uganda to South Africa

The China-Africa Mansion is open. The Senegal “YIWU GOODS”展厅 is live. 8 West African markets are next.

This award isn’t mine alone. It belongs to every African business owner waking up early to move goods, build supply chains, and create opportunity.

On to 2026. Let’s go.

🏆 Recognition. Responsibility. ResultsI had the distinct honor of being recognized at Yiwu’s landmark conference — the City-wide Cadre Conference & Accelerating the Building of a Modern County Paradigm Conference — where government authorities, business leaders, and outstanding community members were celebrated.

This was not just a ceremony. It was a statement.

📌 Key highlights from the event:

· Yiwu was awarded the provincial “Loyalty, Responsibility, Excellence Award” for 2025.
· The city unveiled 20 new business-friendly policies to boost trade and innovation.
· Over 340,000 residents — including a significant African community — are driving Yiwu’s growth.
· Foreign representatives, including myself, were invited to speak and share insights.

🌍 Why this matters for Africans in Yiwu and across the continent:

Yiwu is the largest small commodities market in the world — and a vital hub for thousands of African traders who visit regularly or call this city home. This recognition signals that our presence, our work, and our contributions are seen and valued at the highest levels.

As an African community leader here, I accept this award on behalf of every African brother and sister doing business, raising families, and building bridges between China and Africa.

🌍 Honored. Inspired. Ready to build bridges.

Early 2026, I had the privilege of standing among Yiwu’s finest at the City-wide Cadre Conference & Accelerating the Building of a Modern County Paradigm Conference — a major gathering where city authorities, government officials, and the business community came together to celebrate excellence.

In 2025 alone, Yiwu was recognized with the provincial “Loyalty, Responsibility, Excellence Award” — and this event set the tone for 2026’s vision: “8 Paradigms of Excellence” , including global trade, innovation, industrial growth, and shared prosperity.

📊 Why this matters for our African community in Yiwu — and across Africa:

· Yiwu is home to over 340,000 new and old residents working together.
· Thousands of African traders visit or live here, driving millions in trade value annually.
· The conference introduced 20 new pro-business policies and named foreign representatives as key voices in Yiwu’s future.

As an African community leader in Yiwu, receiving this recognition means more than a personal honor. It means our voice, our presence, and our contribution to this global trade hub are seen and valued.

To my African brothers and sisters — whether you live here or travel often for business:
👉 This is our moment too.
👉 This city is building a future where we belong, contribute, and thrive.

🏆 Proud to serve. Proud to share. Proud to be part of Yiwu’s next chapter.

A celebration of achievement and a vision for the future 🌍🎉

After Director Wang Birong’s inspiring speech, the evening moved into an exciting celebration of Uganda’s victory in the Yiwu World Cup 2025, where the Uganda team secured 3rd place! The big screen flashed highlights of Ugandan players in action—scoring goals, passing, and running with intensity. 🇺🇬⚽

“Unlocking new trade opportunities at the world’s largest wholesale market 🛒🌍

Today, we had the privilege of meeting with the Deputy Director of the China Commodity City (CCC) Market Management Company, as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance Uganda’s trade presence in Yiwu International Trade City. This meeting focused on creating a framework that will allow Ugandan businesses, especially in the agriculture, coffee, and handicrafts sectors, to access one of the world’s largest wholesale markets. 🇺🇬🇨🇳

Yiwu International Trade City is the heart of global trade, with an estimated annual trade volume of $70 billion. In the past five years, Uganda’s exports to China have increased by 20%, with coffee exports rising by 25% in 2024 alone. This meeting is a significant step toward expanding Uganda’s footprint in China’s trade network, particularly in the growing markets for Ugandan agricultural products and artisanal goods.

Together, we’re creating pathways for Ugandan businesses to gain direct access to global buyers and investors. The future of Uganda’s trade in China looks incredibly bright! 🌟

Fostering new opportunities for trade and investment in Africa 🇺🇬🤝🌍

Today (15-Nov 2025) , we had the privilege of meeting with Mr. Zhu Yaki, Chairman of the China-Africa Chamber of Commerce, at the China-Africa Building in Yiwu. This pivotal discussion focused on expanding Uganda’s agribusiness, tourism, and coffee export sectors while strengthening the economic ties between China and Uganda. 🇨🇳

In the past five years, China’s investments in African agriculture have increased by 18%, with Uganda being a key beneficiary. Uganda’s coffee exports to China grew by 25% in 2024 alone, reaching over 6,000 tons annually. As Uganda continues to position itself as a hub for agro-processing and value-added manufacturing, this partnership with the Chamber is vital for creating more sustainable business relationships, attracting investment, and fostering mutual growth.

We look forward to deepening our collaboration and unlocking further opportunities to promote Uganda’s agribusiness and tourism sectors to Chinese investors. Together, we can achieve great things! 🙌

Strengthening diplomatic ties for a brighter future 🌍🤝

Today, we had the honor of meeting with Deputy Director Zhu Jingbo of the Yiwu Foreign Affairs Department to discuss key initiatives that will help enhance Uganda’s presence in Yiwu and improve support for the Ugandan community here. From smoother visa processes to expanding trade and cultural exchanges, this meeting laid the foundation for deeper collaboration between Uganda and Yiwu! 🇺🇬🇨🇳

In the past five years, Uganda’s exports to China have grown by 20%, with coffee alone accounting for $100 million of that total. Additionally, the number of Ugandans living in Yiwu has increased by 15% over the past 3 years. This collaboration will help us continue to build on these achievements, positioning Uganda as a top partner in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Exciting times ahead as we build long-term partnerships that will benefit both Uganda and Yiwu! 🙌

Today, I had the honor of addressing over 100 staff members of the Yiwu Center for Disease Control, local authorities, and fellow volunteers during a community health awareness session. 🌍💡

In recognition of my role as a bridge between the African community and our local partners here in Yiwu, I was awarded a certificate — a reminder that leadership means building trust, protecting our people, and strengthening cooperation across cultures.

The session focused on seasonal health awareness and the importance of vigilance. I’m proud that our community continues to be seen as a trusted partner in safeguarding public health.

This is just one step in a bigger journey: building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities — not only here in China, but also back home in East Africa.

“农链全球 · 浙里启航” – From Zhejiang to Africa, A New Era in Agribusiness Begins.

On May 15, 2025, I had the honor to represent the voice of Africa at the unveiling ceremony of the Zhejiang (Jinhua) Agricultural Machinery Export Service Center, held at the A5 Pavilion of Yiwu’s Production Material Market.

This landmark event—under the banner “农链全球 浙里启航”—marks the launch of a bold 2025–2027 Action Plan for Agricultural Cooperation with Africa, supported by the Jinhua Agriculture Bureau, CCPIT, Yiwu Machinery Association, and key universities, banks, and enterprises.

As the first batch of Zhejiang’s leading agricultural machinery companies prepare to “go global” together, I had the privilege to speak on behalf of African nations and emphasize this:

“Africa holds 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, favorable climate, and a youthful farming population. With the right investment in machinery and market access, Africa can move from raw exports to value-added food production capable of feeding the world.”

Our message was well received. From cocoa to cashews, maize to millet—Africa must move up the chain. It’s no longer just about farming. It’s about processing, exporting, and leading.

And that’s what this China–Africa partnership can deliver.

A sincere thank you to the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the Jinhua CCPIT, and all partners working to build this export service platform. Let this be the beginning of a new era in Belt and Road agricultural collaboration.

To all global buyers of food, and to serious African farmers and cooperatives—the time is now. Let’s build it together.

Bridging Gaps, Building Trust.
In a city as dynamic as Yiwu—where global ambition meets local excellence—misunderstandings in quality, delivery timelines, or cross-cultural expectations can sometimes arise between foreign buyers and Chinese manufacturers.

As leaders within the East African business community, we’re often called upon to mediate, clarify, and restore trust.
Whether it’s aligning on product standards or helping resolve supplier disputes, our goal is always the same: sustainable solutions built on respect, transparency, and mutual benefit.

In 2024 alone, we’ve assisted in resolving over 80 supplier-related disputes, helping foreign buyers reclaim over $2 million worth of delayed or misrepresented goods across Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangdong provinces.

We also work to resolve internal misunderstandings among foreign entrepreneurs to foster a stronger, united diaspora in Yiwu and beyond.

A heartfelt thank you to the Yiwu authorities and local industry stakeholders for their continued support in creating an enabling environment for international trade and cooperation.

Together, we make Yiwu more than just a trading hub—it becomes a model of cross-cultural partnership and business excellence.
