• Confirmation emails will be sent by the Organising Committee no later than April 4. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please check your inbox regularly and reply before the deadline indicated in the email.
• Priority will be given to adjudicators with full availability.

📍What is “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” ?

The “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition for College Students is one of the most prestigious and influential university-level English debating tournaments in China.

Organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), the competition has brought together university debaters nationwide to the debate stage over the past 27 years. Now, it has become a flagship platform for academic excellence, critical thinking, and the cultivation of globally competent communicators within China’s higher education system.

As we approach the the 28th Championships, we are now officially inviting experienced and committed adjudicators to join us.

Let’s shape the stage of ideas together.

🏆The 2026 China Universities Speech and Debate Championships (CUSDC) came to a close after four intense days of competition at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE).

This year’s tournament marked an important step forward for the China university debate community. CUSDC became the first domestic championship in nearly 12 years to reintroduce the Round Robin format, allowing teams to engage more fully with one another in a fair, rigorous, and intellectually demanding setting.

One of the most exciting outcomes of this championship was the emergence of the first cohort of the 2026–2027 China University National Team. Selected debaters will enter a systematic training program organized by FLTRP, preparing them for major international competitions later this year. For many, CUSDC marked both an ending and a beginning.

Guided by FLTRP’s broader mission to promote accessibility, diversity, and community-building within Chinese debate, this journey continues beyond CUSDC. At the upcoming Shanghai International Debate Open (SIDO) , FLTRP will sponsor 15 Chinese university teams, with selection focused on diversity and support for debate societies with fewer institutional resources. Through this continued partnership, we hope to lower barriers, widen participation, and bring more voices from across China onto the international stage.

📅 FLTRP 2026 Tournament Calendars | Official Release

We are pleased to share the 2026 tournament calendars for two major tournament series under FLTRP, covering both offline international tournaments (IT) and “FLTRP · ETIC Cup” English Debate Tournament.

🔴 IT Offline Tournament Series | Spring 2026

With the Nanjing IT in February as the starting point, the IT Offline Tournament Series officially launches its Spring 2026 season.

The tournaments will be held successively in Beijing, Xi’an, the Greater Bay Area, and Shanghai, offering debaters the opportunity to compete in a fully in-person, high-standard competitive environment.

🔴 “FLTRP · ETIC Cup” English Debate Tournament Series | 2026

The FLTRP · ETIC Cup National English Debate Tournament Series will continue throughout 2026, including online opens, regional rounds, national championships, novice events, and training camps.

We look forward to welcoming debaters, coaches, and institutions to join us in 2026.

Sofia WUDC 2026 | China Makes History 🇨🇳🏆

From August to December, FLTRP organized the selection of the China Delegation and provided financial support for the teams participation at Sofia WUDC 2026.

Following a selection process organized by FLTRP and several months of structured training, debaters from the following universities have been selected to form the China Delegation and are representing China at the 2026 Sofia WUDC, with FLTRP as the sponsoring organization:

Beijing Novice Inter-Varsity Debate Tournament Concluded Successfully！

Supported by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP), the 2025 Beijing Novice Inter-Varsity Debate Tournament (BNIV) was successfully held on November 30 and December 1.

As a leading national promoter of English education and academic activities in higher education, FLTRP remains committed to cultivating students’ critical thinking and international communication competence.

In line with this mission, FLTRP collaborated with the debate societies of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beihang University, and Renmin University of China to create a high-standard academic exchange platform tailored specifically for novice debaters.

The 2025 BNIV brought together over 150 Chinese novice English debaters. For many participants, this was their first exposure to BP debate. FLTRP provided comprehensive tournament support, including official certificates and invoices, professional event photography, and logistical support for adjudicators, ensuring a professional and supportive environment.

We extend our congratulations to all participants and thanks to the organizers, adjudicators, and partner institutions who contributed to the success of the tournament. BNIV marks an important milestone for novice debaters as they continue their growth within the university debating community.
