湖北省水果湖高级中学是隶属省教育厅的一所实力雄厚的省重点中学、省级示范学校，其前身为武昌水果湖中学高中部，始建于1958年，1992年恢复为湖北省重点中学，2001年8月以原武昌水果湖中学高中部为基础组建成立湖北省水果湖高级中学。
水果湖高中现有教职工220人，学生3000余人，中教高级教师资格者101人，特级教师10人，一批全国模范教师、国务院专项津贴者、省优秀教师、省政府专项津贴者、省级骨干教师，一大批在省市区颇具影响力的学科带头人。
