On 6 August, more than 100 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) alumni gathered at King Street Wharf for a cruise on Sydney Harbour. This marks the first Southern Hemisphere stop in the Next Together series of events for the University’s 20th anniversary.

Following group check-in and boarding, alumni embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour cruise, enjoying an evening against the backdrop of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

From Suzhou to Xi'an, and all the way west to Liverpool 🚴🌍

Luke Rimmer, an exchange student from the University of Liverpool at XJTLU, is well on his way through his incredible Silk Road cycling adventure!

The summer heat has been his biggest challenge, but the kindness of people he's met along the way has made sure he never feels alone 💙

The Silk Road journey continues 🚴🌍

After setting off from XJTLU on 21 July, Luke Rimmer has reached Xi’an Jiaotong University, the next stop on his 15,000 km cycling adventure from Suzhou to Liverpool.

During his visit, Luke explored the campus, met with students and staff, and discovered the shared history and connection between XJTLU, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and the University of Liverpool 💙

More than a stop along the route, this was a meaningful moment celebrating the strong bond between the three universities.
