Today is Christmas, merry Christmas to you all! Christmas becomes more and more popular in China, one special thing in China now celebrating Christmas is we give apple🍎as a gift. Because the sound of apple in Chinese--苹果（píng guǒ) is similar to 平安（píng'ān), while Christmas Eve in Chinese is 平安夜（píng‘ ān yè ), moreover, apple(苹果)🍎 represent safety（平安） . The first picture below is one of our teachers receiving a very big apple as a gift for Christmas. It is interesting that apple is the forbidden fruit in bible while we give them as a gift. But that is some kind of culture spread and transformation. Like fortune cookies from Chinese restaurants but we never seen them here in China.
