Led by University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong and University President Chen Shiyi, SUSTech has had the mission of reforming higher education in China since its launch in 2011. By taking a pioneering and innovative approach, it has been widely regarded as collectively moving the higher education sector forward to match the needs of China and its role in education on a global scale. In 2012, the Ministry of Education endorsed and acknowledged the university as a platform for experimenting with Chinese higher education reform. An Engine for Economic Growth and Innovation

With 27 academic programs now, and more commencing every year to meet the growing demands of future students, SUSTech offers an unparalleled learning and research experience, pushing at both the scientific and technological frontiers. With nearly 600 faculty members, over 3500 undergraduate students and nearly 800 graduate students for the 2017-18 academic year, you can be sure you will be working on something innovative and have your talents cultivated. By 2020, an additional six academic colleges will be established, including the Medical School, the Business School and the College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Further to that, the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary research shall be enhanced by the establishment of 26 research centers. The SUSTech campus sits in the rolling hills of Nanshan District in the bustling city of Shenzhen. The natural and tranquil environment combines perfectly with the modern style of Shenzhen and its convenient location. With the campus covering an area of nearly 2 square kilometres, there is plenty of room for students to cogitate and consider their research, or relax and enjoy their lives on campus. By placing ourselves among glorious greenery, we can partake in the gorgeous flora and fauna that naturally occurs in Guangdong Province. Our campus is not just green in appearance, but we are working hard to get as close as possible to zero emissions and follow environmentally friendly policies. It is our responsibility as members of society to provide a better environment for our future generations.

SUSTech and collaborators achieved progress in visuo-tactile perception for medical robots. 🤖🩺 They developed an adaptive stiffness visuo-tactile robotic palpation system for surface topography reconstruction and deep lesion localization.
