Four years ago, Remy was a boy who daydreamed in class. Now, he holds offers from both Cambridge University and Amherst College in the US. An Encounter Between "Singin' in the Rain" and MIS

Recently, during its Shenzhen tour, the cast of the classic West End musical "Singin' in the Rain" was invited to Shenzhen Merchiston International School (MIS), where they engaged in an in-depth and dynamic artistic dialogue with students and faculty, allowing the charm of world-class stage art to permeate this vibrant campus.

During the exchange, students engaged in face-to-face conversations with the British cast, listening to stories of perseverance, exploration, and growth from both on and off the stage. This deep integration of original British art and authentic British educational culture allowed students to immerse themselves in the essence of British culture and personally experience the professional passion and expertise of the artists, serving as a vivid and profound masterclass. Several British actors remarked that the strong British ambiance of the MIS campus made them feel deeply at home, as if “returning to a school in the UK.”

From Struggling in Math to Oxford Biochemistry: Mark's Journey at MIS
“Math used to be my biggest challenge—when I first transferred to MIS from Thailand, I couldn’t even grasp trigonometry. A year later, I was able to understand Taylor series. To me, that felt like a small miracle.” This is how Mark, a student in the Royal Mile Academy (RMA) division of Shenzhen Merchiston International School (MIS), who received an offer from the University of Oxford for Biochemistry in the 2026 application season, described his transformation.

With Oxford’s Biochemistry program admitting only 4–6 students from mainland China each year—a highly selective path—this offer is not only a recognition of Mark’s academic achievements but also a vivid reflection of MIS’s student-centered educational philosophy. It demonstrates how MIS’s tailored teaching approach helps every student discover their own light.

Shenzhen-based leading STEAM education platform KET Academy, led by its founder Teacher Meng and her team, has officially released the feature promotional video produced for our school.
