A simple but beautiful PIANO DEMONSTRATION by me for piano students.
It basically me playing 2 different versions of the same piece of music, verision one: 'POP' VS version two: 'BLUES'. Point I'm trying to make is, how to use the "Blues" style for turning a rather dull song part, into something more elegant or with substance.
Could you tell the difference? ^_^

A: Basically any style. We covers all kinds of music styles ranging from Classic Rock, Hard rock/Metal, Indie, Pop, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Electronic, Hip Hop etc
Q: THERE ARE SO MANY MUSIC INSTRUCTORS OUT THERE. I'M NOT SURE WHERE AND HOW TO START...?
A: Come and try us out first ; Give us a chance to prove what we can do to help you with your music. We're sure you'll enjoy it very much. After that you can decide whether to continue for yourself. No pressure, no worries.
ABOUT THE TEACHER:
- Professional musical background as being a Canton pop song arranger and studio session player for 3 years. Also composed music for 3 TV commercials.
- Over 14 years of experience of teaching music.
- Currently engaging in various live projects in different music groups.

2) Open-minded teaching: We don't believe there are strict "rules" in music. We teach all the basic "rules", and then how to break them.
CHARACTERISTICS OF TEACHING:
1) IT IS THE KEY TO COVER A WIDE RANGE OF MUSIC STYLES
We have great appreciation for all kinds of music including Pop, Blues, Folk, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Funk, Reggae, Hard Rock/Metal, Punk, Indies Rock, Experimental, Electronic, 60s,70s Rock and more. Practically, we're capable of delivering the skills and knowledge for ANY MUSIC STYLE and ANY SONG as the student wishes. This approach to learning music is very rare in Hong Kong.
There are many music teachers who might be good at just one or two styles, and may not be open to teaching other styles they're not interested in. This is really a big drawback and is unfair for students seeking to learn more.
We focus on encouraging our students to explore a wider world of music. We introduce new music during each lesson, helping them to become more open-minded about styles, and enhancing their playing enjoyment.
2 ) DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS
We never apply the same teaching method to every student; Every music course is tailor made for the individual student, according to his/her character and needs
No matter if you're a complete newbie, or have been playing for a while, we will help you become a better musician.
New students are first guided through all the basic skills, knowledge and theories etc. After acquiring the necessary foundation, we'll start teaching them to play their favorite songs. The student is always free to decide what he or she wishes to learn.
For those who have been playing guitar for a while, you're welcome to bring over all your music questions to us for us to solve together, or just come over and get ready to learn something new! You can just bring in your favourite songs and we'll show you how to play it straight away. However, if we discover the student has any difficulties, we'll guide them back to the basics.
Want to just focus on a specific music style? Blues? Rock? Jazz? No problem! We will focus exclusively on that style.
Even if you're not sure what your direction is or just wanna give it a try,we would love to discuss and customize a learning plan just for you. WE REALLY DO CARE ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT AND NEED.
3) UNIQUE AND PRACTICAL METHODS OF TEACHING MUSIC
There are many guitar players, but understanding the underlying concepts, or theories behind the music or guitar arrangement is a whole another story. This is crucial for students who wish to focus on composing/song arranging and improvising with a band (the essence of Rock music). 'Practical' teaching methods bring maximum excitement to the music learning process. The deeper you understand about an art form, the more capable you are of truly expressing yourself.
Every time we teach a new song, you will learn not just the techniques, but also the theory and concepts underlying the techniques. Understanding these concepts is the key to applying techniques and ideas you have learned to a different environment. Example: After we have lots of ideas in our head, finally comes our owns set of ideas.
Unlike traditional theory teaching methods that just go by the book without delivering practical gains for the student, we guarantee our teaching is gonna be fun, interesting, and fruitful.
We do a lot of jamming with students during classes so they have a chance to express themselves freely, and test what they have learned.
4) EAR TRAINING
Having sensitive ears means:
a) It's much easier to identify problems and mistakes while you're practicing on your own, or when you're playing in your band.
b) You pick up music knowledge and skills much more easily. It's possible for you to hear a song for the first time, instantly pick out the notes, and begin playing along straight away. This is the best and most enjoyable way to learn new chords ,solos and music ideas.
c) Maximize your music listening pleasure. Because you will discover more and more about whats actually happening within specific songs, (eg how different music parts are working together) you'll begin to appreciate music even more.
We highly encourage and train our students to rely on their ears, That said, we also provide an abundance of learning materials in paper form in order to fully integrate all the above concepts.
