南澳中学是我县唯一的一所高级中学，创办于1946年，2007年2月被评为“广东省一级学校”。学校座落在县城东北角自然景观十分迷人的象山山腰上，占地183亩，校园绿化覆盖率95%以上，教学区、运动区、生活区独立分开，环境优美，育人条件良好，是一所有现代气息的园林式美丽校园。现有教学班36个，学生2116人，教职工151人。
