Peekaboo Kindergarten

Peekaboo Kindergarten Peekaboo Kindergarten is the oldest bilingual school of the French concession offering two different curriculum: French/Chinese or English/Chinese.

Peekaboo is a 50/50 bilingual kindergarten for children aged 1-6 in either French/Chinese or English/Chinese. Classes mix aspects of both Montessori and Steiner while following respective French, British and Chinese national curricula. Kung fu and performing arts classes such as music, ballet and art are also a significant part of the curriculum. Peekaboo is located in the heart of the former French Concession in a quiet neighborhood. Peekaboo has 14 spacious and bright classrooms, a large multi-zoned courtyard with different playground areas with play structures and open spaces as well as shaded areas. There is also a big sand pit and vegetable garden. Peekaboo facilities:

• Gym room// dance hall • Theater • Art workshop • Big and a small library (for the youngest kids) • Science room • Kitchen built to scale for children • Individual piano rooms • Mini mall including a salon, supermarket, restaurant, dress up and performance area ! Peekaboo’s team is equally focused on personal and social development. As individuals, we want to nurture a child’s curiosity, intellect, physical development, creativity and emotionally positive responses. As a community, we model respect for the individuality and personality of others. Our class size is max 19 with 4 teachers giving a class ratio of five-to-one. Native language teachers instill a fun learning experience with realistic goals. Daily life at Peekaboo is a journey into the discovery of the world through creative play and direct experience. All children are given all opportunities to discover, to learn, in a multi-sensory environment. Classes are highly structured and playfully taught to meet developmental milestones. During the course of a day, classes move around the school to participate in the different realistic life experiences. We also like to think this emulates a homey feeling at school.
