Every year, the Reality Show returns.
Every year, the story changes. 🎭💜

For the Class of 2030, this year’s show brought the realities of college life to the stage, from AI anxiety and global uncertainty to friendship, vulnerability, finding your voice, and figuring out who you’re becoming.

Behind the scenes, 10 NYU Shanghai students spent two months in New York creating alongside students from New York University ‘s three global campuses. They wrote. They rehearsed. They laughed, connected, and became a family across continents.

Their message to the Class of 2030?

It’s okay to change. It’s okay not to know what you’re changing into. And you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

What makes a painting valuable? 🎨 Its price? Its history? Its cultural significance? Or perhaps the time we spend truly looking at it?

Vitalisms II, the latest exhibition at NYU Shanghai’s Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), invites visitors to slow down and reconsider what gives a painting value beyond its monetary worth.

Featuring 22 predominantly abstract works by seven contemporary Chinese artists, the exhibition is designed for close looking and conversation. Instead of conventional exhibition tours, visitors are invited to join weekly bilingual group discussions, spending extended time with individual paintings and exploring their color, shape, materials, and traces of the artists’ actions.

The exhibition runs through December 19. Weekly bilingual group discussions begin October 9, with a public roundtable featuring the artists on December 5.

Today, NYU Shanghai launched the Global Institute for Longevity and Resilience with its inaugural Longevity and Resilience Conference, bringing together scholars, policy researchers, and industry representatives from China and around the world.

The new Institute brings together fields that are often studied separately—from healthy aging and eldercare to urban planning, climate resilience, finance, technology, and public policy—to explore how individuals, families, communities, and cities can adapt to longer life expectancy.
