An update on our incredible Class of 2026! 🎉

Now that the final grade review is complete, we're delighted to confirm the official results: a wonderful IB average of 38.2 and a 100% pass rate. More than a third of our pupils earned a total score of 40 or above—including one remarkable student who achieved a perfect 45!

Behind every one of these confirmed results is a story of hard work, late nights, determination and growth. To our graduating pupils: we are so proud of you. And to the parents, families and teachers who supported them every step of the way—thank you.

As our Old Wellingtonians head off into their exciting futures, they take a little piece of our community with them.

We can't wait to welcome everyone back in August for the start of a brand new chapter. Here's to the Class of 2026!

One perfect 45. Nearly a quarter of pupils scoring 42 or higher. An average score of 37.9 — well above the global average of 30.88!

This year's Wellington Shanghai graduates have delivered exceptional IB results! 🎓

Over one-third of our pupils scored 40 or above, and 70.6% of subject grades were 6 or 7. These results reflect not only academic excellence but the growth our pupils have demonstrated as learners, connectors and changemakers throughout their IB journey.

Nearly half of our graduates have already secured offers from QS World University Top 20 institutions, including Cornell, Columbia, Oxford and Imperial College London — the highest proportion in six years.

This continues a strong track record: over the past three years, more than 50% of our applicants to top 30 US universities received offers, and our Oxford acceptance rate stands at 29%, well above the global average for non-British applicants.

What does it really mean to raise a child? And what does it really mean to educate one?

Wellington College International Shanghai parents James and Yuan Yuan share the ideas that shape how they think about their parenting and education.

They talk about the value of an inclusive environment, where a child feels the world is theirs to explore without boundaries. They reflect on equality within the family: treating children as capable individuals whose voices matter, rather than talking down to them. And they describe the difference between academic knowledge and something deeper—the patience, critical thinking and confidence that grow from a truly holistic education.

What comes through most clearly is their belief that raising a child is nothing like an investment measured in returns. It is, instead, a relationship of mutual companionship and growth.

As our 2025–26 academic year came to a close, our Master, Julian Jeffrey, sat down with Head of College Charlotte and Year 6 pupil Ettore for a heartfelt conversation. 🎬

Looking back over a year of moments shared with pupils, parents and staff, what left the deepest impression on him? Were there any school events he secretly wished he could have joined? How did he seem to be everywhere at once? And what does he hope for in the year ahead?

True to form, Mr Jeffrey answered every question—earnest and light-hearted alike—with openness and warmth. He even recalled a piece of advice from his own school days that has stayed with him ever since, and shared the message he wrote for this year's leavers: words full of hope and encouragement for our younger generation. 💚

🎬 Congratulations to Tiffany, Class of 2026!

A Wellingtonian since Year 4, she graduates with offers from UC Berkeley, NYU Tisch, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and a full scholarship to The University of Hong Kong — each for film and directing.

Her path wasn't straightforward. For years, she saw film simply as entertainment. That changed when she saw David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. It was surreal, yet the problems it explored felt deeply real — and that's when she understood film's power as a medium for empathy and storytelling.

But it takes a leader to make a great film. And she's spent her entire career at Wellington honing that important skill. She founded our Media Club and Debating Teams. She became a founding member of Model UN, and she served in Pupil Government both as Head of House, and on the Pupil Leadership Team.

Tiffany’s story reminds us that true success is about finding meaning in what moves us, and using our talents to bring people together and make an impact. She’s turned her passion into purpose, and her ambition into community. And this embodies everything a Wellington education inspires.

Class of 2026 grad Samy fell in love with theatre in Year 10 and hasn't looked back since. Now he's graduating Wellington Shanghai with offers from top US performing arts programmes at USC, Emerson College and CalArts.

What makes theatre special? According to Samy: "You can see a whole different world and yet draw so much parallel to what life is actually like."

Our teachers recognised Samy's talent and gave him countless opportunities to grow—from creating characters for audition pieces to performing on stage. This is what happens when passion meets support.

This Children's Day, we sat down with our Wellington students to ask them some of life's biggest questions: Is it more fun being a child or a grown-up? What would you do if you became an adult today? Do you have any worries right now?

Their answers are refreshingly honest, wonderfully funny, and deeply insightful. From dreams of drinking coffee and buying phones, to fears about Chinese tests and changing diapers, to the simple joy of "running and playing every day"—these conversations remind us why childhood is so precious.
