🎉Mr. Joel Ng, Head of Secondary English Panel, has been awarded the title of “Teacher of Excellence”🏆

To inspire teachers in Macao's non-higher education sector to pursue the spirit of educational excellence, continuously improve the quality of education in Macao, and set an example of exemplary teaching, the Macao SAR Government has awarded the "Teacher of Excellence" honour to teachers who have demonstrated outstanding performance during the 2024/2025 school year. Mr. Joel Ng, Head of Secondary English Panel, has successfully received this award in recognition of his outstanding performance in curriculum reform, technological innovation, and promoting students' diverse development.

Mr. Ng has actively spearheaded the curriculum reform of the secondary English department. By utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance teachers' work efficiency and stimulate students' learning motivation, he has successfully brought innovative vitality to the classroom. Furthermore, he has driven the faculty to establish multiple English societies, creating platforms and opportunities that enrich students' language experiences. Today, our secondary English curriculum not only focuses on improving students' language proficiency but also places a strong emphasis on cultivating their core competences, cross-cultural communication skills, and global perspectives.

This accolade is a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Ng's exceptional contributions and pedagogical wisdom, and it fully validates our panel’s fruitful achievements in advancing high-quality educational development. 👏

Our English teachers Ms Gisele Ng, Ms Kaka Chong, Ms Rachel Tou, and Mr Sebastien Chan attended the AIinLT Summit 2026 at Hong Kong Polytechnic University yesterday.

They were introduced to innovative research frameworks, from the dynamic role that AI plays in teaching and learning to the incorporation of multimodal projects that boost learner motivation. They also explored practical AI-mediated teaching methodologies: AI reading coaches for fluency, creative digital comics for writing, and AI conversation bots for speaking practice.

Most fundamentally, despite the constant evolution of technology, there is a consensus among all that both teachers and students need to ensure the effective collaboration with AI, student ownership, and ethical AI use.

六月二十一日，本校英文科組吳欣霞老師、鍾嘉嘉老師、杜詠詩老師及陳衛聰老師，前往香港理工大學參與「AIinLT 2026」峰會。會議中多位學者發表創新的人工智能研究框架，不僅探討AI在語言教學與學習歷程中所扮演的動態角色，亦聚焦於如何將多模態學習專案融入課程，以提升學生學習動機。

與會的學者及教師亦深入交流運用AI輔助閱讀、寫作及口語訓練之實用教學策略。儘管人工智慧技術持續演進，與會者一致認為，教師與學生均需重視與AI的有效協作、維護學生學習主體性，並恪守AI使用之倫理原則。

On June 6, 2026, we had the privilege of hosting Prof. Zhang Yan from Beijing Normal University for an inspiring teacher training session titled "Nature in English Poetry and Poetic Reading in Our Contemporary Time."🌳

Prof. Zhang delivered a captivating lecture that traced the evolving relationship between humanity and nature. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, she utilized famous Western paintings—such as Van Gogh's “The Starry Night” and Munch's “The Scream”—to illustrate how visual objects in nature have been historically subjectivized to reflect inner human emotions. A major highlight of the presentation was her detailed analysis of Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18. Prof. Zhang expertly unpacked its iambic pentameter and rhyme scheme while exploring the profound thematic struggle between nature's fleeting beauty and the immortalizing power of poetry.

Following the lecture, the session transitioned into an engaging workshop. Prof. Zhang provided three distinct poems for our English teachers to read aloud, analyze, and discuss. This collaborative activity sparked insightful exchanges and diverse viewpoints across the room. 👏✨🫶🏻

6月6日，我們有幸邀請到北京師範大學章燕教授，為我們中學英文科組老師帶來了一場啟發性的教師培訓講座，主題為「英語詩歌中的自然書寫與AI時代的英詩閱讀」（Nature in English Poetry and Poetic Reading in Our Contemporary Time）。

章教授的講座引人入勝，追溯了人類與自然之間不斷演變的關係。她採用跨學科的視角，借助梵高的《星夜》和蒙克的《吶喊》等西方名畫，生動地闡述了自然界中的視覺客體在歷史上是如何被主觀化，從而反映人類內在情感的。本次講座的其中一個亮點是她對莎士比亞《十四行詩第18首》（Sonnet 18）的細緻賞析。章教授剖析了該詩的五步抑揚格（iambic pentameter）和押韻格式，同時深入探討了自然界短暫之美與詩歌永恆力量之間深刻的主題博弈。

講座結束後，活動進入了互動熱烈的研討坊環節。章教授提供了三首風格迥異的詩歌，供在場的英語老師們朗讀、分析與探討。這一互動環節激發了全場深刻的交流與多元的觀點碰撞。

The 4th GBA The “Kids’ Voice” Cup Speech & Story Telling Competition 2026 was held in Hong Kong on May 10. The competition aims to provide a professional platform for public speaking and storytelling, promote cultural exchange among students from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and enhance young people’s language expression skills and self-confidence.
