The 27th of October marked a day of immense achievement as TECOM Shanghai 2023 triumphed in showcasing 'Diversity for Innovation'. With 800+ participants, 20 industry leaders, and 10 innovative startups, the event was a roaring success!

🙌 AEBS Students Lead the Way! A special shoutout to our incredible AEBS students who played a pivotal role as volunteers, hosting, and managing various tasks throughout the event.

🎙️ Key Highlights: From insightful keynotes by luminaries like Shameen Prashantham and Sean Song Yuchen, to panels dissecting VC funding dynamics led by Jessica Gleeson, the event delved deep into bridging gaps and embracing diversity. Workshops led by experts like Olivia Plotnick and Ron Lee offered interactive learning experiences.

The Expatriate Center (TEC) in Shanghai organized the Social Entrepreneurship Competition (SEC), a program that seeks out innovative business ideas that tackle social and environmental issues in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The theme for this year’s competition is “Resilience and Innovation”.
 
I joined this program because it sounds meaningful and interesting. Our team decided on a business idea called THE OASIS, in essence, is designing a peaceful and uplifting app for youths to practice meditation, engage with positive affirmations, and improve their mental well-being.

We were one of the 6 finalists out of many projects. And I am happy to announce that “THE OASIS” clinched first place in the competition! This recognition not only brought us significant prize money of RMB 40,000 but also gave us a great opportunity to develop our idea with additional mentorship support and register our company in the Changning District.
 
I am grateful for the opportunity to join this social entrepreneurship competition. It is a step out of the comfort zone, to form our unique business idea and pitch it to the industry experts. It was certainly daunting, but also a valuable experience as I managed to connect with experienced mentors and also like-minded participants.
 
For those of you who have a passion for entrepreneurship, have faith and confidence in your ideas, and give yourself the chance to step onto the stage.
