Scientific curiosity is built through experiences — from observing DNA for the first time to creating jam through teamwork.
Welcome back to the “World Exploration” series. In this episode, our students embarked on a STEM summer camp in Singapore focused on hands-on and experiential learning. Through experiments in professional labs equipped with advanced technology, they brought textbook theories to life.
Here are a few highlights of their hands-on breakthroughs at Science Centre Singapore:
The DNA Learning Lab: Moving beyond textbook illustrations, students extracted DNA and observed the results of the experiment first-hand. As one student shared: “The equipment was so interesting, and I just love exploring new things!” 🔬
Molecular Gastronomy Workshop: Students explored the science behind food preparation while experiencing the value of teamwork. “Working as a team made the process much faster — we finished it in just three or four minutes!” 🍓🤝
Water Rocket Challenge: Engineering principles came alive as students designed, built, and launched their own water rockets, helping them develop confidence and practical skills. 🚀
Beyond the labs, the exploration continued across Singapore. Students visited the campuses of National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore to gain insights into university life, discovered advanced automation at Weston Robot, and learnt about Singapore’s approach to sustainable urban development. 🏙️🌿
Through hands-on learning, reflection, and collaboration, our students returned home with meaningful memories and greater confidence for their future learning journeys.

Welcome to the second episode of “World Exploration.”
Guided by our educational philosophy of integrating scientific exploration, environmental awareness, and cultural exchange, our students embarked on a unique learning journey across East and West Malaysia.
In the ancient rainforests of Sandakan, students stepped into a “living classroom.” By observing wildlife and exploring rainforest ecosystems, they gained first-hand insights into the delicate relationship between humans and nature. 🐒🦅
Their journey then continued in Kuala Lumpur, where they discovered another side of Malaysia. During their visit to the University of Malaya and their exploration of local landmarks, students learnt how to communicate across cultures and adapt to new surroundings — valuable experiences that cannot be found in textbooks.🏛️🌆
Through this journey, our students not only discovered the richness of Malaysia’s natural and cultural landscapes, but also developed a greater curiosity about the world around them.
🌍❤️ Ambright World Exploration — see you on our next journey! 🗺️🚀
What an incredible summer! We are thrilled to celebrate the successful completion of the 2026 "Kinship with China—Journey to Cultural Roots" Summer Camp (Jiangsu Session).
This year, the camp brought together 41 overseas Chinese youth and team leaders from 12 different countries for a deeply meaningful experience.
From day one's Opening and Book Donation Ceremonies, our participants dove into an intensive, hands-on schedule blending culture, science, and history:
🔹 Project-Based Learning (PBL): Participants researched and presented showcases on "The Silk Road Tech Museum," "A Global Journey of Food," and "Money, Trade & Trust." One student shared: "I learnt about different types of tea, as well as the goods that travelled along the Silk Road, including items introduced to China from the West and those that China brought to the world."
🔹 Traditional Arts: Hands-on workshops in traditional Chinese arts, including Floral Bag Design, Chinese Lacquer Fans, Tie-Dyeing, Bamboo Weaving, and Nanjing Yunjin Brocade.
🔹 STEM & Nature: Visited the Robotics Learning Centre—where students built mechanical spiders and witnessed how robotic dogs evolved from 1956 to today—toured the Nanjing Air and Space Museum, and enjoyed outdoor activities like cherry tomato picking and crayfish fishing.
Seeking our roots is more than a glance at the past; it is about carrying the warmth of home in our hearts as we venture into a wider world.
Thank you to all the participants who made this journey so unforgettable! 🌏❤️
Bringing Chinese Culture Home: An Unforgettable Journey of Many "Firsts"
Recently, our 10-day "The Shanghai Bridge" summer camp successfully concluded in Shanghai! 🎉
We were thrilled to host overseas Chinese youth from 15 schools across the UK, US, Italy, France, and Germany. Together, they embarked on a journey full of exciting "firsts":
🥢 Making traditional soup dumplings (Xiaolongbao)
🛶 Wandering through the iconic water alleys of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
🤸 Practicing traditional martial arts at the Chin Woo Athletic Association
📡 Witnessing China's technological advancement at the China Beidou Industrial Technology Innovation West Hongqiao Base and BOKE Technology
The students shared their joy: "Xiaolongbao tastes so much better when you make it yourself!" and "This was such a fresh, wonderful experience where we built lifelong friendships."
Seeing their smiles reminds us why we do what we do. At Ambright, we believe true international education stretches far beyond textbooks and language courses. It lives in these immersive field trips and deep, real-world connections with local communities. This is how students build true cross-cultural empathy and inclusivity.
🎭 More Than an Acting Workshop
How to become a better actor?
According to Scott Trost, Director of the Meisner Institute in Los Angeles, it begins with something much deeper than performance—it begins with opening your heart and putting attention on others.
During his recent visit to Jinan Thomas School, Scott led students through an immersive Meisner acting workshop featuring improvisation, imagination, and practical exercises. Through this experience, students explored the techniques behind authentic performance and gained firsthand insight into the creative process of acting.
Scott was impressed by the students' enthusiasm, describing them as "so curious about acting" and praising both their talent and the dedication of their teachers.
The values reflected in this workshop are deeply aligned with Ambright’s long-standing educational commitment: nurturing students who are intellectually capable, emotionally aware, and prepared to engage with the world with openness and purpose.
Thank you, Scott, for an unforgettable experience. We can't wait to see you back at Jinan Thomas School!
