Message from The Director
Elevate!Reach Higher, Shine Brighter

As we reflect upon the academic year, we are inspired by the majestic journey of a hot air balloon, lifting gracefully into the sky. This year’s theme, “ELEVATE” symbolizes our collective aspiration to reach new heights, driven by passion and the burning desire to shine brightly in all our endeavors.
Just as a hot air balloon ascends, fueled by the transformative power of fire, so too have our students and educators risen this year through our shared passion for learning, discovery, and growth. It is the spark within us that kindles a relentless pursuit of excellence and elevates us beyond our perceived limits.
Our students are the vibrant balloons, each uniquely colorful and full of potential, guided by love, unconditional support, and the profound principles of Montessori and the International Baccalaureate. They float towards the infinite sky, unhindered by obstacles, embracing challenges as the very winds that propel them forward, and illuminated by their own inner light. In the Amerasia community, we understand that it is not merely the height the balloon reaches that defines us, but the journey itself. Just as a hot air balloon ride offers breathtaking views and unexpected discoveries, our educational journey provides moments of wonder, insight, and connection. Students, staff, and families engage in a transformative experience that broadens perspectives and deepens understanding.
Together, we have cultivated an atmosphere of support and encouragement, where every individual’s success is celebrated, and every challenge is met with courage. In this nurturing environment, we have witnessed our students soar—physically, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Through collaboration and innovation, they have created an inspiring tapestry of achievements, in academics, sports, arts, leadership, and service.
As this school year draws to a close, we honor the spirit of elevation that characterizes Amerasia. Our gratitude extends to all the families whose unwavering support and shared vision fuel our collective journey. It is your belief in our mission that has enabled us to foster an environment where all students can flourish and reach their fullest potential.
As we look forward to the summer and beyond, let us carry the lessons of elevation with us—rising to meet every new challenge with the same fire and determination. With hearts full of gratitude and anticipation, we eagerly await the return of our community to campus in August, ready for another year of growth and adventure.
May we continue to rise, reach higher, and shine brighter together.
Warm regards,
Dr. Chris Vicari

STEM DAY 2025

This year’s Amerasia STEM Day launched students into a high-flying adventure with the “Glide for Rescue” challenge—an exciting, hands-on competition where House teams engineered gliders to deliver a rescue payload with precision and care.
In alignment with our school-wide theme ELEVATE, students were tasked with designing, building, and launching gliders capable of transporting a lightweight “egg rescue” payload to a marked target. The challenge tested not only engineering and physics skills but also teamwork, creativity, and resilience under real-world design constraints. The final standings were:

🥇 Taishan – 1st Place (200 points)
🥈 Fushan – 2nd Place (150 points)
🥉 Laoshan – 3rd Place (100 points)
🏅 Mengshan – 4th Place (50 points)

STEM Day continues to ignite curiosity and a love of science, technology, engineering, and math by connecting classroom learning with global and local challenges!

MYP GRADUATION

Upper School gathered in celebration, reflection, and joyful recognition of a pivotal milestone — the MYP Graduation Ceremony for our MYP 5 students, Estera, Peter, Jim, Ayumi and Tudor. With proud hearts and misty eyes, teachers, families, and friends honored the journeys of students who have grown into thoughtful, resilient young adults ready to take on the next challenge: the IB Diploma Programme.
Serving as our Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Jakub Grzeszczuk, MYP Coordinator and Head of Science, skillfully guided the event with humor and heartfelt words, reminding everyone of just how far these students have come. A powerful moment followed as the MYP 5 class video brought laughter and tears, capturing classroom moments, candid memories, and the spirit of a cohort who supported each other every step of the way.
A standout performance of "Eye of the Tiger" by our students electrified the room, and student speakers Peter and Tudor shared powerful reflections on lessons learned during the MYP journey. Their words reminded us that real growth often happens outside our comfort zones. A surprise video was played with graduates’ parents saying beautiful words directed at their children in their mother tongue – Polish, Romanian, English, Chinese, and Dutch.

DP students explored Inner Mongolia during our Week Without Walls trip, following the conclusion of our final exams. Organized in partnership with WildChina Education, the program immersed us in the unique cultural, historical, and environmental landscapes of Hohhot, Dalat Banner, and the Xilamuren Grasslands.
Throughout the trip, we engaged with critical themes from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Hands-on activities—such as planting trees to combat desertification and interacting with local nomadic communities—allowed us to witness firsthand the ethnic and environmental diversity within China.

DREAMLAB: Instruments
By Gannett Cassidy, PYP Steam & MYP Design Teacher

The M3 Design students just wrapped up an exciting project focused on creativity and sustainability! Their challenge was to design and build a working musical instrument using mostly recycled or leftover materials. With an emphasis on hands-on skills, students transformed wood scraps, aluminum cans, PVC pipes, and even metal tubing into incredible instruments—including handmade guitars, a ukulele, xylophones, and a traditional Chinese erhu!
Along the way, students sharpened their design thinking and woodworking techniques using professional tools in the Dream Lab such as power drills, hand saws, Dremel tools, the band saw and the belt sander. Our learning goals included exploring sound design, sustainable material use, safe tool handling, and collaborative problem-solving. The results? Beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind instruments and a new confidence in their abilities to design!

By Katy Stack, Assistant Director, Lower School Principal, Montessori Coordinator QAIS Infant

Toddler and Early Childhood classes embarked on a special spring field trip to Zhang Cun River Park. Students from Bamboo Cottage, Plum Blossom, Lotus, and Lavender Cottages came together for a joyful morning filled with play, exploration, and fun.

This trip was designed as a community experience, bringing together all our youngest learners and their teachers in one shared outdoor space. The children delighted in the freedom to explore nature, engage in creative play, and enjoy a relaxed picnic with friends and teachers from other cottages. Children ran, climbed, explored multiple play spaces and discovered the natural beauty around them.
