Yes, If you choose to study in a smaller city in China, you might notice that locals are quite curious about you! It's common for people to approach you, ask where you're from, and sometimes even request to take a photo with you. Children, in particular, are often very excited to practice their English and will greet you with enthusiastic 'Hello!'.
This behavior stems from a few factors:
Less Exposure: Smaller cities often have fewer international residents, making foreigners a novelty.
Friendliness: Chinese culture generally values hospitality and welcoming guests.
Language Practice: Locals may see this as an opportunity to interact with a native English speaker.
While it can feel a bit overwhelming at first, try to see it as a sign of warmth and openness. Most people are simply curious and want to connect.
