Shandong University was featured at this year's World Robot Conference in Beijing, co-hosting a forum on engineering . 🤖

The focus was on moving robots from the testing phase to real-world applications, particularly in complex engineering environments where heavy loads, obstacles and harsh conditions put technology to the test.

Drawing on expertise in robotics and civil engineering, SDU is expanding joint R&D with industry partners in areas such as core robot components and intelligent algorithms.

Shandong University researchers and partners have published a study in Nature on managing the coming wave of retired solar panels. ☀️

Poor handling of these panels can harm the environment, while regional differences make one-size-fits-all recycling difficult.

The team developed a global framework to assess recycling strategies and found that PV recycling could reach the economic break-even point around 2035-2040 and help recover valuable materials such as silicon and silver. ♻️

What does it feel like to learn about archaeology by doing it? 🏺

At the Chinese Archaeology International Summer School at Shandong University, students from 10 universities across four continents tried stone-tool making, explored archaeology labs, and joined museum visits.

The program gave them a closer look at SDU's archaeological research and showed how shared interests can help bridge language and cultural barriers.

Research from Shandong University provides new insights into a highly pathogenic virus. 🔬

A research team led by Professor Peng Zhan and Associate Research Fellow Shenghua Gao of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has published a study in Nature, revealing the 3D structures of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) polymerase in multiple functional states.

By uncovering how the virus replicates and identifying how two classes of inhibitors work, the study lays the groundwork for developing future antiviral drugs.
