We had a meeting with some of the universities this morning and the feedback was great. We have already secured 120 scholarship seats. Chinese borders have officially opened. Also, in order to attract foreign students, some of the universities have improved their scholarship admissions packages.

Concerning our old applicants who haven’t received their admission letters and JW202, we will start working on it so that you can apply visas to China.

Also, Phd applicants do not need supervisors anymore, university will allocate supervisors to students by themselves.

Updates about the return to China: Most of the Chinese Universities have reached out to us that they would be allowing students back next year for the Spring intake. We will start advertising Chinese scholarship admissions next month. Despite the relaxation of the Chinese borders, students would still be quarantine upon arrival and according to China pandemic control measures. Please kindly take note.

Updates on Chinese borders:

The Chinese borders are opened to majority of countries around the world. Some universities are also giving out return to China letters. Some countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas are able to return to China due to the availability of flights.

For African students, there are no or limited direct flight to China for now. This has made the cost of flight tickets skyrocketed. We advise African applicants who doesn’t have the financial ability not to buy these expensive flight tickets with the aim of working to cover for the cost when they finally arrive at China. Job opportunities are limited and working is illegal in China for students. Due to rising of Covid-19 cases in China, It’s likely students would be confined on University campuses for the time being.

UPDATES ON BORDERS CLOSURE AND OTHER MATTERS IN CHINA

The borders are still locked and even though some universities have taken students information in order to process for their return, they are still unsure about African students returning to China.

If you are coming to China for studies and not for the following reasons: to do business, work or tourism purposes, we advise you choose another destination for your studies if you are an African. The system has changed compared to 8 years ago. We have received numerous complaints regarding the ill treatment of African students here.

Many universities are unwilling to even extend students visas for a month so they can have enough time to move to another university within China. They ask them to leave immediately after graduation (sacking them from university dormitories).

When they even apply for further studies such as masters or PhD, most of them are denied admissions citing a reason of students having a criminal record during their stay in China which doesn’t exist. Many students never broke the Chinese laws but were denied for further studies based on non-existence criminal record. We even followed some students to the police station to check their criminal records and the police confirmed they are clean without any bad records yet the universities still insisted they had and went ahead to deny them admissions. At the end, those students had to go back.

Unlike other countries, opportunities have been further reduced for foreign students especially Africans. Students are hurried back home immediately after graduation. There is also limited movement for foreign students and coupled with constant lockdown on university campuses which seriously affect their mental health. When students challenge authorities, they cite the reason of curbing Covid-19.

Moreover, some universities made a lot of students deposit fees but in the end, students were not allowed back to China. These fees are also not refundable. University authorities become offensive when students ask for a refund. Some even block you for persistently asking for a refund.

In our opinion, we advise applicants halt Chinese University application until the borders are fully opened. We want to give our followers and applicants an accurate information regarding studies in China. When borders open, will update you with new Chinese scholarships.
