The EMBA Delegation from School of Management Fribourg departed Beijing and arrived Hangzhou on the 11th of April, starting a cooperative module at School of Management Zhejiang University.

In an ancient building at Nanhua Garden of Zijingang Campus, the EMBA Delegation received lectures on the Chinese Economic Development & FDI Opportunity and the Innovation for the Good-Enough-Market in China from two professors from Zhejiang University. The lectures helped The delegation understand better not only the changing environments for Foreign Direct Investment in China but also the importance of innovation in the in the process of China’s consumption and market upgrading.

As a part of the module, the EMBA delegation visited Alibaba Group, the world’s largest online and mobile commerce company. At the headquarters of Alibaba, the delegation had an introduction and Q&A session with the project supervisors from Alibaba Global Leadership Academy (AGLA). AGLA is an employee recruitment and training program which seeks to attract top-tier international talent from major markets outside of China for 16 months of training and internship at Alibaba headquarters. The EMBA delegation also got the opportunity to visit Alibaba Museum, where this eCommerce giant displayed their past and present achievements, as well as a blueprint of digital future towards an inclusive globalization.

At Citadines Intime City Hangzhou, the EMBA delegation spent a Networking Evening with students from Global Entrepreneurship Program of Zhejiang University and professionals from Hangzhou’s eCommerce industry. It is an unforgettable experience filled with inspiring conversations in a relaxing setting of the environment. During the event, experts from AliExpess and Ant Financial shared their experiences about working at Alibaba and their insight into China’s eCommerce economy. On the last day in Hangzhou, the EMBA delegation visited the West Lake and the Linyin Temple and was very impressed by the beauty of this city.

The EMBA students of class 2016-2018 from School of Management Fribourg (HEG/HFW Fribourg) arrived Beijing on the 7th of April 2018, starting their two week’s Delegation Trip in China. In the sunny spring day, the delegation visited the historic sites of the Great Wall and the Temple of Heaven over the weekend upon their arrival. The group was immersed deeply in the cultural environment of the capital of China.

On the following Monday, the delegation came to the Embassy of Switzerland in China. After a warm welcome and introduction by the Science, Technology, and Education Section, the delegation started their session with the Head of the Economic, Financial and Commercial Section and the Head of the Swiss Business Hub China on the topic of Sino-Swiss economic and business relations. Then Two professors from renowned universities in Beijing continued the session with their lectures about the Financial & Capital Market and the Online Marketing in China under the theme of “Doing Business in China”. The EMBA delegation also attended an experience-sharing drink with a Swiss entrepreneur at Capital Club Beijing. At the end of the day, they were invited to taste the well-known local gourmet, Beijing Roast Duck, during a welcome dinner at Da D**g.

The second part of the agenda in Beijing consisted of several company visits. At Lee & Lee Associates, a professional accounting and business consulting firm, the EMBA delegation learned about the strategies of how foreign companies enter the Chinese market. The highlight of the trip was the visit to the R&D center of Huawei. As the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, Huawei demonstrated China’s top level of innovation and high-tech competences with their new vision and mission: “Bring digital to every person, home, and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world” and their broad portfolio of innovative ICT solutions and intelligence devices. In the evening before departing Beijing, the delegation attended an event at Naked Hub hosted by Swissnex about AI in WealthTech discussing how the disruptive force of AI and big data would influence the future of the financial world.

Here we go! The latest HEG-FR EMBA Delegation visited China in March - April 2017. As a tradition, they started their trip at Swiss Embassy in Beijing.

They also visited Lee & Lee Associates, a professional accounting and business consulting firm, and Bird & Bird, an international law firm with over 1200 lawyers in 28 offices across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

During the following trip of 2016 delegation, they experienced the onsite production process of LEM Electronics (Beijing), a Swiss company and market leader providing innovative and high quality solutions for electrical measuring parameters.

And then in Shanghai, they visited the Novartis campus and had met the CFO and HR manager of the company.

The visit to Huawei R&D center was definitely an unforgettable experience for the 2016 EMBA Delegation trip. Huawei is the second largest telecommunications equipment company in the world by revenue.

Again in 2016, the EMBA Delegation from the School of Management Fribourg began their China trip at Swiss Embassy in Beijing. After the welcome speech from the Ambassador, they had received lectures that covered the concerns of launching a company in China and the issues of intellectual property.
