As of August 11th, 2021, Landi English will suspend our recruitment activities including sourcing, screening, interviewing and appointing due to the risks related to the new rules and regulations issued by the Chinese State Council recently.

Teacher Debby is from South Africa and just in her 2ND week of teaching at Landi English. She suggests that the 1 on 1 classes are challenging because of the short time period that she has to prepare since students can book up to 15minutes before the class. She hopes to have 1 on 2 students soon! Though, she got started 2 weeks ago, her schedule is already full! 🤩

Teacher Tayla, who was recruited into Landi English last month, is a certified ESL teacher with 3 years of teaching experience. She says the hiring process went smoothly and definitely prepared her for the teaching position. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly (both students and her colleagues). The support system is also amazing! Whenever she needed help she has always received it. She loves how she gets to choose her own working hours so she can find a balance between work, studies and social life.

Additionally, she suggests the following tips in order to prepare teachers for their interview:
1) Show interest in the company and do not be afraid to ask questions (i.e. Who are my colleagues? What ages will I be teaching?),
2) prepare a short summary of who you are (i.e. teaching experience / your strengths in the classroom)
3) be punctual, confident and familiar with ESL/TESOL terminology

Teacher Elizabeth has over 5 years of experience specifically teaching ESL, and over 10 years of general teaching and mentoring experience.

3 things she likes the most about landi would be:
1) the steady schedule. It’s fantastic knowing when she is going to work and knowing that for the most part every week will be the same. That way she can plan her life accordingly.
2) having the same students every week. She thinks it’s so beneficial to be able to form relationships with the students and she can really grow to love her regular students and enjoy watching them grow as they learn.
3) She loves how helpful her coach is. Like her coach is always answering any questions she has quickly and in a helpful manner. It’s hard to find company’s with such good communication skills.

As for the class bookings, it didn’t take her long at all to have a steady and full schedule, and she even have had some Chinese parents asking her to open more slots for their children!!

Do you need extra props for Landi interview?
Absolutely yes!!

Props is a strategy that exemplifies one way for students to receive praise from their teacher and fellow peers when they exceed standards set in the classroom or come up with an exceptional answer to a question. This is a nice way to motivate and encourage students to not shy away from the opportunity to take a chance and speak out in front of the class. When a student goes beyond the typical answer, or just generally does something above average, the teacher can give a signal word to the class, in which they reply with a very short (1-2 second) noise, hand gesture, or phrase that shows approval and appreciation to their classmate. With phrases such as, "Way to go, John!" "Ohhh yeahhh" or even "Yes, you can do it, Hooray” the teacher and students are giving their classmates praise that will boost their confidence and keep them interested in the lesson. As mentioned before, this strategy is not limited to verbal phrases. Some other examples of Props are handclaps, stomps, or snaps. Any way for a student to receive a quick boost of encouragement from his/her classmates can potentially create a tighter bond among peers and a better relationship with the instructor. By keeping this praise technique short and to the point, the teacher is not wasting any class time, but is still creating a strong, positive, and friendly classroom environment.
