Last Saturday, our Chinese school successfully held a cozy DIY tanghulu event 🍓🍡
Under the guidance of our instructors 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫, students learned to skewer fresh fruits and coat them with homemade sugar syrup, experiencing firsthand the joy of making this traditional Chinese treat ✨

Beyond learning related Chinese vocabulary 🀄📖, many students thoughtfully packaged their tanghulu as Christmas gifts 🎄🎁 to share this sweet cultural experience with friends.

The event ended with lots of laughter and smiles 😄💛, bringing together hands-on fun and a deeper appreciation for Chinese food culture 🍬🇨🇳

Last weekend, we visited Faxi Temple (法喜寺) in Hangzhou — a peaceful temple tucked away in the mountains and surrounded by bamboo forests. 🕊️

Our students had a wonderful time exploring the temple grounds, learning about Buddhist traditions, and soaking in the calm atmosphere. To finish the day, we enjoyed a bowl of local vegan noodles (素面) — simple, warm, and full of flavor — the perfect ending to our cultural adventure! 🍜✨

At Mandarin Mates, we believe that learning Chinese is more than just studying language — it’s about experiencing Chinese culture and connecting with local life in meaningful ways.

上周我们和同学们一起去到了杭州超治愈的法喜寺～🌿 爬山、听钟声、许愿、拍照📸，每一步都被秋天的温柔包围。 结束后还在寺庙附近吃了碗超好吃的素面🍜，清淡又暖心。

And that's a win for team 🀄! Our school's Mahjong event this past Friday was a blast!

The room was filled with energy, the sound of clinking tiles, and lots of laughter. A massive thank you to all who participated and made it such a memorable evening. Whether you were a pro or learning for the first time, your enthusiasm was contagious!

These moments of connection are what make our school community so special. Can't wait for our next game night!

Picked up the kids at the airport—their smiles said it all. Excitement, curiosity, and just a little jet lag!

We strolled along the stunning West Lake and shared the legendary tale of the White Snake. Everyone was enchanted by the story—and the view!

🧋 First Bubble Tea Experience
"Are the pearls yummy or weird?" The debates were hilarious, but safe to say… everyone went back for seconds!

🛒 Supermarket Survival Challenge
They learned how to shop using mobile payments—QR codes mastered! Proud to see them adapting like locals.

🗺️ Digital Tools 101
From navigating with Gaode Map to exploring food spots on Dianping, our campers are already on their way to becoming China-savvy explorers.

This is just the beginning—can’t wait for next week’s adventures! ❤️

🌟 Unforgettable Cultural Exchange in Hangzhou! 🇨🇳✨

So honored to join Hangzhou International Communication Center’s amazing event with 10 first-time visitors to China—historians, filmmakers, influencers & more! Everyone was so curious and full of love for the culture. ❤️

Highlights:
🍄 Explored a super local market & learned why enoki mushrooms = “see you tomorrow” 😂
🔥 Tasted 55% gaoliang liquor (survival level: expert)
🍲 Made homemade hotpot + competitive mahjong sesh (they got too into it)
🌍 Ended with a feast mixing Hangzhou dishes + global flavors—food truly connects us all!

Shoutout to the organizers for creating such a genuine, fun cultural bridge. Hope we can do it again soon! 🙌
