Hangzhou International School (HIS) annual China Trips are much more than a journey – they’re a true “week without walls,” where learning comes alive beyond the classroom.🌏
From the natural beauty of Qiandaohu (Grade 6) to the karst landscapes of Yangshuo (G7), the coastal culture of Xiamen (G8), the historic charm of Lijiang (G9), and the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia (G10), each experience immerses students in the richness of China.⛰️
Through service, adventure, and cultural connection, students deepen their understanding of our host country while building resilience, empathy, and a global mindset – proving that the most powerful learning happens far beyond four walls.❤️

HIS had a fantastic evening of music for their performance wrapping up the year so far. 🎵
It was a powerful demonstration of student growth, collaboration, and artistic confidence.
The progression across grade levels was unmistakable, and the joy our students brought to their music-making was felt throughout the theatre.❤️

Bringing history to life!
Our Grade 4 just had their Living Museum on Migration, where they shared their detailed projects on different large migrations throughout history.⭐️
By bringing these projects to life they were able to share the amount of effort and time they put into to learning about these significant moments in history.
A great job from 4th grade!

Our Grade 7 students recently brought their Aesthetic Movement Dance unit in PHE to life through unique group performances, showcasing their ability to create continuous, expressive movement with synchronization and energy.
From unison to canon, each group demonstrated how movement can communicate one’s intention to improve intrapersonal skills while sharing a story.
A special thank you to Mr. Moen and Mr. Fletcher, who supplemented students’ confidence, familiarity, and performance presence, allowing them to take creative risks with their teams and perform with greater cohesion.
We’re proud of the growth shown—not just in technique, but in confidence, collaboration, and creativity.

We were incredibly lucky to have Author and Illustrator Clare Elsom visit HIS to work with our Lower School students.❤️
Our students got to hear about what it’s like to be an author and illustrator, got to see her draw firsthand, and even got to design and draw a character with her!
This experience was a valuable experience for our students as they got to expand their creativity and learn new things.💫
