I visited China for the first time in 2017 for a culture exchange program. The two weeks experience has shown me a new set of values, beliefs, traditions, and how advanced Chinese technology and infrastructure were. By immersing myself in a new culture, knowing each other’s stories, and getting past the stereotypes and misconceptions, this experience has challenged me to know more about this country.
As time passed by, the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia introduced me to Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, which will host the next Asian Games. It has never crossed my mind that, in 2020, I will be able to continue my study in Hangzhou. With helpful, caring, and hardworking teachers, online classes have never been a barrier for me to learn as much as possible. During my study, I also took some opportunities to participate in leadership training and seminars to enrich my knowledge.
Majoring in International Business has exposed me to ideas and innovations I could never have imagined. I really enjoy every learning process and practice that I can witness through my surroundings. Analyzing case studies has given me a strong understanding of how businesses work and how every decision can affect the overall business performance. Every hard work has given me the opportunity to obtain the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship throughout my two years of study. The school and the Chinese government have fully supported me in achieving my dream. I learned to embrace different cultures as well as perspectives which in turn have broadened my view.
As a final word, I believe I am who I am today because of the help and support from everyone around me. Choosing Zhejiang Gongshang University was one of the best choices I have ever made. I believe that one day I will be able to visit Hangzhou and experience face-to-face lectures in the classrooms. In the future, I will continue to work hard in fulfilling my highest potential and bring real impacts to society. "
