PSG Meet & Greet 2026/27 💙

Yesterday, we hosted our first Parent Support Group (PSG) Meet & Greet of the year, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces alongside parents who are new to our BSG community.

We took the opportunity to thank last year's PSG members and the many volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to support school events, class activities, and community initiatives throughout the year. Your contributions make a real difference and help create the warm, welcoming environment that makes BSG so special.

It was inspiring to see how eager our parents are to support one another and get involved in school life. We are incredibly grateful for such a strong and engaged community.

Introducing our Head Student Team 2026–2027

This year, eight excellent candidates put themselves forward for our Head Student Team and completed a comprehensive selection process. This included an application letter and video against a published job description, a presentation to students on “How to Thrive at School”, and a formal interview.

Following a very strong process, we are delighted to announce our Head Student Team for 2026–2027: Cynthia, Sebastian, Victoria and Branden.

Over the coming year, the team will work together to represent the student body, strengthen student voice and contribute to the wider life of BSG. They will support school events and initiatives, work closely with students and staff, and help ensure that the views and experiences of our students continue to shape school life.

Throughout the selection process, all eight candidates demonstrated many of the values we aim to see across BSG: excellence, respect, responsibility, commitment, integrity and a genuine love of learning.

Congratulations to Cynthia, Sebastian, Victoria and Branden. We look forward to seeing the contribution they make to our school community this year.

🌟 Building Bridges (and Towers) in Year 7! 🌟

To kick off the new term, our Year 7 students swapped textbooks for cardboard and tape in an exciting team-building challenge! Tasked with constructing the tallest tower using recycled boxes from around the school, this activity was a fantastic way to spark collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

It was inspiring to see our tutor groups working enthusiastically together—especially as many students are new to BSG this year. The competition was fierce, but a huge congratulations to tutor group 7D, whose winning tower soared to an impressive 3 metres! 🎉

What a brilliant start to the term and a wonderful way for our new Year 7s to bond, learn, and grow as a community. This is just one example of how we nurture teamwork and innovation at our international school. 🌍✨

BSG Year 6 have started exploring our new topic of electricity. The students have been learning about the different components that make up an electrical circuit and have had plenty of opportunities to experiment with building circuits themselves.

They investigated what happens when different components are added, removed or changed, observing how this affects the circuit and using their findings to develop their understanding of how electricity flows.

Alongside their practical investigations, the students have also been learning the correct electrical symbols for each component. They are beginning to use these symbols to draw clear and accurate circuit diagrams, remembering to use a ruler for straight lines and ensuring that each component is represented correctly. It has been a great hands-on start to our electricity unit!

BSG Year 12 students achieved an outstanding 79 A grades at AS Level, with nearly 60% of all grades awarded at the highest possible grade. These results reflect the ambition, resilience and academic strength of our Sixth Form students as they move forward with applications to universities across the world, including the UK, USA, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia and beyond.

Huge Congratulations to Ava, Color, Ethan Li, Ethan Pan, Mishary, Nordo, Phillip, Sora, Yingfaan, Yuka. They achieved straight A grades at AS level in 4 subjects each.

A Levels are recognised globally and open pathways to higher education across a huge range of countries, institutions and courses. From highly competitive universities in Europe and North America to leading destinations across Asia and Australia, our students are using their strong AS Level results as the foundation for the next stage of their academic journey.

We are now accepting registrations for the BSG Cambridge English Programme for the new academic year, commencing 12 September 2026. These courses are offered at six levels and are open to all BSG and non-BSG students.

This programme is run at the British School of Guangzhou on Saturday mornings, with each exam preparation course running for the duration of a year. At the end of the course, students will sit an external exam and gain a certificate from the prestigious University of Cambridge. All courses are delivered by BSG highly experienced, native-speaking teachers who have been trained to teach a ‘Cambridge’ syllabus.
