A Retaining wall of an excavation failed after rain in . Fortunately, engineers noticed the surface cracks before the failure and evacuated the area. Therefore, there were no casualties.

Overall slope collapse occurred today on the East wall of the Ministro hale open pit mine in Chile. According to the official press release from Codelco, the collapse was anticipated thanks to the analysis of monitoring data carried out by the local geotech staff. No injuries thanks to the timely closure of the area potentially affected by the failure.

Green caves Lanzarote (locally known as “Cueva de los Verdes”…
This is not a mine or a karstification…..it is a lava tube:
The lava tube formed after the eruption of the volcano La Corona 3 to 4 thousand years ago.
The top of the lava stream cooled down and solidified into a crust while the inside was still flowing. Later the stream drained leaving only the crust.
