American International School of Guangzhou, China

American International School of Guangzhou, China AISG is a private, non-profit, IB World School that provides an exemplary pre-K through grade 12 education for expatriates living in the Guangzhou area.

Founded in 1981, American International School of Guangzhou is an independent, non-profit, and co-educational IB World School that provides an exemplary international education for foreign children from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. AISG is a co-educational day school with a reputation as one of the leading international educational institutions in southern China. Founded in 1981, AISG is the oldest, largest, and most well-established international school in the Guangzhou area. AISG is the right choice for expatriate students and families in Guangzhou who seek an education that meets or surpasses American and international standards and that prepares graduates for post-secondary studies, including at the world’s top universities. We are proud not only of our academic program, but also of what we offer our students outside the classroom. AISG places great importance on extracurricular activities as well as community service. Students are offered a wide variety of after-school options and other opportunities to assume adult roles and that encourage enrichment beyond academics, a sense of global responsibility, and the acquisition of leadership skills. AISG is a member of the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) which provides our students with the opportunity to compete and collaborate with other international schools from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and the Philippines, in athletic tournaments and cultural exchanges. AISG’s middle and high school campus, located at Science Park northeast of the Guangzhou city center, is comparable to any modern secondary school in North America, incorporating the most current technology in the classrooms. We have an established ESL (English as a Second Language) program in the Elementary and Middle schools, as well as limited learning support services for students with mild learning difficulties. All of our teachers and specialists are fully certified and come from the USA, Canada, Australia as well as Europe and Asia.

Supported by the Annual Fund, AISG’s Social Practice Program is creating real-world learning experiences that prepare students for impact beyond graduation. This summer, students explored careers in architecture, healthcare, and social service through immersive programs alongside industry professionals — building confidence, leadership, and skills that extend far beyond the classroom. From hospitals and design studios to nonprofit fieldwork, our Rams are discovering how learning can create meaningful change in the world.

For Kidd, whose family has been part of AISG since 2001, her daughter's first day in PK began with nervous tears.
It was her first time away from mom and dad. But with a little doll from her teacher and the kindness of her first friend, Christina, her daughter began to feel safe, seen, and loved.

In international schools, people move on, students graduate, families relocate, colleagues begin new chapters. But the memories stay.

For 45 years, AISG has been a place where firsts became friendships, classrooms became communities, and everyday moments became stories people carry on with them to their next location.

This is what binds us together. Our global RamNation.

What AISG memory has stayed with you?

Firsts can show us what we are capable of.
For Tiffany, that first was standing up for something she believed in.

Through the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA), she discovered what it meant to lead, advocate, and help make school feel more inclusive for others.
At the American International School of Guangzhou (AISG), impact begins with the courage to speak up. We empower our community to have continuous conversations because every voice matters.
