BREAKING NEWS : The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has decided to award the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice “for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus.”
This year’s Nobel Prize is awarded to three scientists who have made a decisive contribution to the fight against blood-borne hepatitis, a major global health problem that causes cirrhosis and liver cancer in people around the world.
Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice made seminal discoveries that led to the identification of a novel virus, Hepatitis C virus. Prior to their work, the discovery of the Hepatitis A and B viruses had been critical steps forward, but the majority of blood-borne hepatitis cases remained unexplained. The discovery of Hepatitis C virus revealed the cause of the remaining cases of chronic hepatitis and made possible blood tests and new medicines that have saved millions of lives.

A recent meta-regression on 4189 confirmed cases from 28 studies illustrated that the severity of COVID-19 was found to be associated with an acute cardiac injury that was further associated with death.

Moreover, biomarkers for Cardiac injury (Troponin, Creatine kinase–MB, myoglobin, and NT-proBN) were found to be raised in non-survivors' group, which certainly highlights the need to effectively monitor heart health to prevent myocarditis in patients infected with COVID-19.

Background :
On sunday night a 85 year old patient died in medicine male ward in NRS medical college and hospital ,kolkata,india. Following this loss of a life , 2 trucks full of men came and attacked the doctors . 2 doctors were seriously injured and one of them had ponds fracture frontal bone . he has undergone craniotomy yesterday evening and is in ICU. Dr.paribaha mukhopadhay had an episode of convulsion followed by LOC after he was taken for admission.
The other doctor Dr.Yash Tekwani - ribs and spine fracture .
We ask doctors from all parts of the world to stand with these helpless doctors who are hardly 25 years of age.
All state hospitals have stopped their services. All junior doctors on strike.
Common men / hooligans have continued their attacks .....and many more doctors are injured in different parts of west bengali,India.
