The Affiliated Foreign Language School of SCNU

All the teachers and students of the sixth grade of SCNUFLS CEP Primary School went to Yangshuo to participate in the four-day "Rising Together" inquiry study, starting a journey of self-challenge. In this exploration activity, all the students were not afraid of hardships, dared to challenge, and had the courage to fight hard, showing to everyone the bright, confident and resolute image of students of SCNUFLS.

🚄🚞From fields to karst caves, indulging in Yangshuo's landscape, during the journey of these few days, the students carried out a wealth of project challenges.

👣👣 Panzhen Rock, Ferrata, hiking in the rain, kayaking, cave exploration... The students challenged themselves in each outdoor development project; sunny days, cloudy days, rainy days... The cloudy and unpredictable weather in Yangshuo seems to be changing the way to exercise the perseverance of the students.

🎈Pink balloons, 🎵heart-warming music, 🎁beautiful gifts, and that touch of fresh green🍀 all decorated the venue beautifully. March 12th is Arbor Day, and it is still a day full of happiness and joy! With the debut of the host, the curtain of "Story of Spring · CEP Primary School Grades 1 and 2 (Boarding Students) I am a Little Performer Storytelling Contest" was slowly opened. It was screened wonderfully on Huawai's campus.

You see, full of confidence, steady typhoon, and full of smiles, they show their charming demeanor with every gesture! Listen, the enunciation is clear, the expression is fluent, the content is rich, and they calmly show their outstanding appearance! You see, the expressions are rich, swaying freely, shining brightly, and the applause from the audience is warm and lasting...

Getting close to nature, working in the fields, and learning about crops are experiences ，that are difficult for urban children to have access to. Through the "Spring Plowing Labor" outdoor labor experience class, students gain knowledge in nature, gain happiness in labor, and learn to cherish and work hard in farming. As a student of SCNUFLS, you must be an honest person who loves labor, a person who loves reading seriously, and let the spirit of farming and reading accompany you on your way to school.

The above is the labor exploration class of the students of the bilingual elementary school in SCNUFLS in February. The form and content of each labor class will be different. Last semester, some students even experienced rice harvesting.

This week SCNUFLS held the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition of the Huali Festival where students' works around the theme of Culture were presented.

What are we learning this week at PYP?
The students have started designing their pulleys. We first learned about simple machines ( pulleys, levers, gears ) and then sketched the pulley. They used their research skills to find out about the process. By end of the unit, they will introduce their pulleys and explain how it works.

Moon Geng has been a balanced student both inside and outside of the classroom. She proved to be a risk-taker, by applying and getting in for the student council. She also bravely talked in front of the whole school informing teachers and students about her class’s summative assessment. She has proven to be an active, knowledgeable, and principled student our school can be proud of.

Provocation Day of fifth graders: on this day, the students gathered the artifacts that they discovered on their dig and tried to figure out the back story for them. What kind of a civilization created them and what type of society was created around them. At the end of the class the students presented their theories to the rest of the class.
