Dear international students of UESTC
Hello everyone!
Recently, the novel coronavirus epidemic occurred in China. UESTC attaches great importance to the prevention and control of the epidemic and deeply cares for the health of all teachers and students. On January 28, the“Notice on the Prevention and Control of Pneumonia Caused by Novel Coronavirus”was issued to fully deploy all work during the period of epidemic prevention and control, and actively prepare relevant work in spring semester 2020.
In order to carry out well the prevention and control of the epidemic and the preparation for the new semester, all students should abide by the requirement of nCoV prevention and control, and all students off campus, no matter in or out of Chengdu, China, are not allowed to return to UESTC in advance. The specific opening time of next semester will be notified separately. Please keep in touch with your supervisors, school counselors and international student coordinators, and pay attention to the relevant work arrangement of the school.
According to the work arrangement on the opening of the spring semester 2020 issued by the Graduate school, the Academic Affairs Office and the Student Affairs, in combination with the practical situation of international students, the teaching and student management for international students in preparation of the new semester are as follows. We hope that you can understand and actively cooperate with and support the work of UESTC, and work together to do an effective job in epidemic prevention and control and the upcoming spring semester.
1.Study and research in spring semester 2020
Please prepare for your study in the next semester. If UESTC postpones the opening time due to the epidemic, on-line learning platforms will be provided to students and teachers with "online learning" and "online teaching". Please download the "I-class" app in advance and log in for trial. See the attachment for operation.
The specific teaching arrangements for international graduate students, such as course selection, make-up course, class and performance review, will be notified separately. Please pay close attention to them.
"Course retaking": the application for retaking is still carried out in the routine way in the educational administration system. If UESTC postpones the opening date due to the epidemic situation and online teaching is needed, it will be informed in time.
The Chinese language training for non-degree international students is still conducted face-to-face in class. If UESTC postpones its opening, the School of International Education will extend the training period after the opening to ensure 16 weeks of teaching hours and contents. If you have any objection, you can apply for refund according to the training time.
2. Work related to graduation and degree awarding of students to be graduated in spring semester 2020
In the spring semester of 2020, the international students who are going to graduate are required to strengthen communication with their supervisors through the Internet, and continue to work on their dissertation writing and other relevant tasks.
The application for defense of doctoral, master's and undergraduate dissertations shall be conducted as usual, and the online application and submission shall be adopted, while the paper materials shall not be submitted temporarily.
Thesis defense and other work will be notified separately.
3.Administration of international students
Please cooperate with the UESTC staff in the statistics work, and inform them of your personal situation in a timely and truthful manner. The international students on campus shall strictly abide by the relevant management regulations of the university, and shall not go out without special permission. International students off the campus should abide by epidemic prevention and control of the local community, enhance self-protection and reduce outdoor activities.
All kinds of International Student Scholarship and assistantship will be issued normally. Registration for spring semester 2020 will be notified separately.
Extension of visa or residential permit: if the residential permit for international students living on UESTC campus expires before February 29, the application for extension and related materials (refer to http://en.uestc.edu.cn/info/1036/1065.htm) shall be submitted to the counselor or coordinator of the school, and submitted to the International Student Office of the School of International Education for entrusted submission.
For international students who are not in China, if their residence permit expires before February 20, we will send the new jw202 to facilitate their application of new visas, the time delay thus incurred shall be deemed as normal leave.
For international students in China whose residential permit expires on or after February 29 and students out of China whose residence permit expires on or after February 20, the processing of residence permit extension will be notified later.
4.Job placement of international students
Vacancy information will be mainly released online. Please pay close attention to the website of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (website: http://oice.uestc.edu.cn/en) for the latest notice.
It is hoped that the students will devote themselves to their academic study, keep close contact with the school and the supervisors, do more physical exercise and give priority to personal protection. If you encounter any difficulty and problem, you can contact us at any time. We will do our best to help you.
