Physical Review Letters Publishes New Method for Probing Three-Body Forces by Prof. Geng Lisheng’ group and Lanzhou University Junior Researcher Liu MingzhuπŸ‘

The significant advance in three-body force research was reported entitled '' Probing the Three-Body Force in Hadronic Systems with Specific Charge Parity'', which was made by Prof. Geng Lisheng's group from the School of Physics, Beihang University together with Junior Researcher Liu Mingzhu from Lanzhou University. The research proposes, for the first time, a novel method to probe three-body forces in three-hadron systems with specific charge-parity, overcoming a longstanding challenge in disentangling three-body-force effects from two-body interactions. The researchers demonstrated that three-body forces in the system Dβˆ—DΞ· with quantum numbers IJPC=0(1βˆ’+) contribute up to about 20% of the total potential energy, significantly larger than the typical 5% contribution in conventional nuclear systems. This work opens an original avenue for exploring the nonperturbative dynamics of quantum chromodynamics (QCD).
