We are delighted to announce that Beijing International Model United Nations 2019 (BIMUN 2019) with the theme of "Young Partners for a Bright Future" (青年携手，大道同行) hosted by China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) is going to be convened at CFAU (Shahe Campus) from 23 to 26 May, 2019.
Beijing International Model United Nations is the most recognized and well-known Model United Nations(MUN) conference in China. Every year, BIMUN receives whole-hearted support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the United Nations Association of China, the United Nations System in China and so on. It serves as a unique platform for students to deepen their understandings of international relations and the workings of the United Nations. As the vanguard that first introduced MUN activities to China, CFAU has a grand MUN history. BIMUN hosted annually by China Foreign Affairs University marks the highest MUN academic standard in China as well as a top flagship conference in Asia.
BIMUN 2019 overall has thirteen committees, with five in English, four in Chinese, two in French, one in Spanish and one multilingual. The topics are brave and innovative, aiming to facilitate the implementation of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) was set up on Oct. 16, 1945, aiming at guaranteeing the living standards of people around the world, improving the efficiency of production and distribution of all food and agricultural products, improving the lives of rural population, promoting the development of rural economy and ultimately eradicating hunger and poverty.
This year’s Beijing International Model United Nations will mainly focus on the challenges and future of the actions the UN takes to eliminate hunger and poverty during a new period. The ratification of the Paris Agreement in Dec. 2015 marked the formation of a new response framework to climate changes, and the initiation of the investment to FAO “zero hunger” project further proves UN’s resolution to reduce hunger and poverty. Delegates, under this structure, will together solve the hunger problems, food potential security hazards existing in the FAO projects and current international community, as well as to set proposals for improvement of the Green Food Movement and initiatives related to sustainable development.
FAO Committee implements single delegate system and the Beijing Rules of Procedure which are more expected for the comparison of multi-dimensional and broad-breadth proposals. As the world’s second largest political organization after the United Nations in terms of membership (190 by 2015), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) aims to prevent and fight crimes through enhanced cooperation on police and security matters. The Organization works to provide law enforcement officers around the globe with high-tech infrastructure of operational support that cracks down on terrorism, genocide, illicit drug production, money laundering, weapons smuggling, and other crimes threatening public safety, meanwhile keeping itself as politically neutral as possible.
Of all illegal activities that require collaborative efforts of international police, drug-related crimes and human trafficking stand out as two of the most profitable and thus threatening crimes of the 21st century. Both involve various types and serve multiple unlawful purposes, endangering lives of millions, in rich and poor countries alike. Taken the formidable situation into serious concern, International Criminal Police Organization of Beijing International Model United Nations 2017 focuses its agenda on fighting drug-related crimes and human trafficking. Delegates are expected to come up with constructive solutions for human rights protection and world peace.

We are more than pleased to announce that Beijing Model United Nations (often abbreviated as BMUN) hosted by China Foreign Affairs University has been officially renamed Beijing International Model United Nations (abbreviated as BIMUN).

As the domestic pioneer of Model United Nations, China Foreign Affairs University Model United Nations Association shows great foresight, keeps pace with the times and makes innovation on the basis of its rigorous and academic nature, acting as an exemplary model for other MUN activities. Beijing Model United Nations, hosted by China Foreign Affairs University, has long been one of the most renowned Model United Nations conferences in China. With its unique advantages like high standard, academic level and inclusiveness, as well as its stretched influence, Beijing Model United Nations has been serving as a flying flag that leads the cause of Model United Nations in China to brave the winds and waves for further development.

In the light of the epochal futures endowed by globalization, international vision plays a vital role in major conventions and Model United Nations is not an exception. In order to follow the trend, Beijing Model United Nations, with the support of China Foreign Affairs University Model United Nations Association, connects the world by establishing partnership with its counterparts in the United Kingdom, Russia, Indonesia, Cambodia and other countries. It also gradually constructs an international youth exchange platform based on MUN through bilateral exchanges of members to participate in different Model United Nations conferences.
