The 2026 AUA Academic Conference on AI and Digital Innovation, hosted by the Language Centre of University on 10–11 October 2026, brought together 48 participants from 12 universities, including seven AUA member universities. Under the theme “Foreign Language Learning and Cross-Cultural Communication in the Age of AI”, participants engaged in two days of thoughtful, in-depth exchange. The programme combined a keynote speech and research presentations with an AI-empowered campus walk, round-table and panel discussions, and a working meeting.
The conference highlighted the irreplaceable value of foreign language learning for mutual understanding across cultures and civilisations, emphasising human agency and embodied human competence. The keynote and related discussions explored a pedagogical framework for integrating generative AI into language teaching, highlighting teachers’ leading role in setting learning goals, designing learning processes and evaluating outcomes. Participants also expressed a shared commitment to continued collaboration among AUA member universities, with the next conference providing an opportunity to deepen academic exchange and advance joint work.
