Comprehensive Guide to the Full Process of CSCA Remote Dual-Camera Computer-Based Examination
Introduction
The whole process of the CSCA Computer-Based examination is divided into five stages: preparation for the examination, debugging before the examination, verification of answers on the day of the examination, submission of the answer paper after the examination, and querying and using the results. The rules are unified.
Note: There are slight differences between the requirements for home-based examination and computer-based examination.
Step 1:
1. Eligibility Requirements: Applications for domestic undergraduate programs in China are only open to foreign nationals; residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are not eligible to apply.
2. Required documents: a standard email address, a valid passport, an electronic ID photo (2-inch, white background, taken within the last six months), and a Visa or Mastercard credit card.
3. Registration Steps: Register an account on the official website and verify your email address → Fill in the required information and upload supporting documents → Select the exam format, session, and examination subjects → Complete payment to finalize registration; 3–5 days before the exam, download and print your admission ticket.

Which institutions and programs require CSCA certification as a prerequisite for enrollment? (Part 3)
Special Explanation
1. Purpose of the scores: CSCA scores are one of the essential criteria used by universities for admission review and scholarship evaluation. Each institution sets its own minimum score requirements for each subject (e.g., Zhengzhou University requires a score of ≥50 for individual subjects). Students who do not meet these requirements may need to enroll in preparatory courses.

2. Query suggestions: The specific subject combinations and exemption details for specific majors are subject to the latest enrollment brochure of the target institution for 2026. You can verify this information by visiting the official websites of CSCA or the international student centers of individual universities.

Enrollment Reminder
1. Five exams per year. Applying for admission in the fall is preferred. Candidates can take the exams in December and January and can retake them multiple times to achieve the highest score.

2. Mathematics is mandatory for all students; Chinese classes require proficiency in professional Chinese, while science, technology, medicine students must additionally choose Physics or Chemistry; classes taught in English do not require Chinese proficiency.

3. The registration information must match the information on the passport. Once the subjects have been selected, changes cannot be made three days before the exam.

4. Online dual-camera exam, limited to Windows computers. Device connectivity must be configured in advance; cheating is strictly prohibited.
Preparation Reminder
1. Test on basic knowledge from a Chinese high school; all questions are multiple-choice.
2. Practice with official practice questions to manage your response time.
3. The results are valid indefinitely and are recognized by virtually all domestic undergraduate institutions that accept students from China.

Which institutions and programs require CSCA certification as a prerequisite for enrollment? (Part 2)
Required Courses: CSCA’s professional categorization and subject requirements.
1 . Majors taught in Chinese (Art and Science):

Required subjects: Mathematics + Professional Chinese (categorized as “Liberal Arts Chinese” or “Science Chinese”).
Humanities (including economics, management, law, languages, arts, etc.): Test for “humanities Chinese” + mathematics; Representative majors: Chinese literature, international economics and trade, business administration, law, journalism, English (taught in Chinese), etc.
Science-related fields (including engineering, agriculture, medicine, materials science, etc.): Test for “Science Chinese” + Mathematics; most institutions require an additional exam in Physics or Chemistry, with a choice between the two; Representative majors: Computer Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Materials Science and Engineering, etc.

2. Majors taught in English.
Core subjects: Mathematics (core requirement) + Physics/Chemistry (additional requirement for science, technology, agriculture, and medicine fields); no need to take Chinese as a specialized subject.
Engineering/Aviation: Mathematics + Physics; Medicine/Biology: Mathematics + Chemistry; Some Business-related fields: Only Mathematics.

3. Special Exemption Rules
Applicants majoring in Chinese language and holding a valid HSK Level 4 certificate (some institutions require a score of 180 or higher, such as Fudan and Nankai; some, like China University of Mining and Technology, require a score of 210) are exempt from taking the “Professional Chinese” subject.
There is no need to participate in any professional Chinese language tests throughout the English-language instruction program.‌‌

Which institutions and programs require CSCA certification as a prerequisite for enrollment? (Part 1)
The CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment) has become a mandatory requirement for most undergraduate institutions nationwide to enroll international students for undergraduate studies starting from 2026. There is no category of institutions offering “full exemption”; exemptions apply only to specific subjects or differences in the language of the examination papers.
The core rule stipulates that all Chinese/English-taught undergraduate programs require CSCA scores, with mathematics being a mandatory subject for all candidates; Chinese-taught programs require the corresponding Chinese version for designated specializations; and science, engineering, agriculture, and medical disciplines additionally require either physics or chemistry.
Scope of Institutions that Mandatory Require CSCA Scores Required:
Coverage scope: Nationwide. Over 300 undergraduate institutions admitting international students require CSCA as mandatory documentation, including top-tier 985/211 universities, institutions with strong industry expertise, and high-quality regional universities.
Representative institutions (not an exhaustive list): Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, China University of Political Science and Law, Central University of Finance and Economics, Tongji University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Languages, and others.
Policy Basis: Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, applications from international students at institutions applying for Chinese government scholarships and for most self-funded undergraduate programs will not be processed if they do not submit a valid CSCA transcript.
