Most IUPers started their first lesson at IUP with “吃在中国” Eat in China. Now let's listen to part of this lesson again and tell me: How do you like Beijing food? BTW in the previous post I uploaded a wrong pic of Zhang Laoshi. Check the right one uploaded by Li Laoshi in the post. Zhang Laoshi is now a visiting scholar at Dartmouth College! And Song Laoshi is teaching at the National Taipei University of Education.

Do you remember the textbook "Across the Straits"? If the answer is yes, you must be familiar with the story of Zhang Laoshi and Song Laoshi. Zhang Laoshi is currently a professor of Chinese at Beijing Normal University. And Song Laoshi is teaching at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. Can you recall any of their stories?

As Xi Jinping is visiting the US, how to pronounce his last name "Xi"? If you’re familiar with IPA, you’ve got an easy route into this: /ɕǐ tɕînpʰǐŋ/. Let’s have a look at how Wikipedia helps readers pronounce this name:

SHEE chin-PING

Hmm, still sounds weird for Chinese people.... But if you can read pinyin, you will definite not be worried about this.
