What are the biggest challenges confronting the global economy today? At a packed event hosted by the Beijing Global Center, Nobel laureate and University Professor Joseph Stiglitz offered a sharp, timely analysis of issues shaping our world — from macroeconomic instability and trade tensions to inequality and industrial policy.

"I'm a very strong believer in global cooperation," said Prof. Stiglitz, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative solutions in areas such as climate change, sustainable development, global health, and economic regulation.

Speaking to incoming students, alumni, and friends, he also emphasized the importance of critical thinking in turbulent times, reassuring future Columbians: "We will weather the storm as Columbia."

Prior to his highly anticipated lecture, Prof. Stiglitz met with Columbia | SIPA incoming students at an exclusive reception at the Beijing Center, offering invaluable one-on-one time and insights into the transformative educational journey that awaits them at Columbia.

Co-hosted by the Columbia Global Center Beijing and the Columbia Alumni Association of Beijing.
